Apple today released a minor 12.4.1 update to iTunes, introducing several bug fixes to address issues with VoiceOver and other features.

iTunes 12.4.1 can be downloaded immediately from the Software Update mechanism in the Mac App Store.
This update addresses a number of problems where iTunes doesn't work as expected with VoiceOver. It also restores the option to Reset Plays and fixes the following issues:

- Up Next may have unexpectedly played songs added together in the incorrect order.
- iTunes was prevented from crossfading between songs.
iTunes 12.4.1 comes just over two weeks after the release of iTunes 12.4, an update that introduced a revamped interface designed to be simpler, with the reintroduction of a sidebar for easier navigation and a redesigned media picker. It also featured safeguards to protect users from an issue that could cause music stored in iTunes to be deleted.

I hope it fixes the issue with playlist folders getting automatically collapsed when switching views (and then sometimes randomly opening on their own again!).

EDIT: Looks like it does not fix this bug. :(

Can someone please check to see if "Start Genius" can be selected from the contextual menu of a currently playing song?

Just checked. Answer is no.

haven't used iTunes in years

Right on brother. Neither have I.

So you wasted 10 seconds of your life to tell us this and nothing else? o_O

He didn't waste 10 seconds of his life. He brought joy to mine, knowing that I am not alone in the universe drifting from one MP3 to the next, iTuneless like a wayward asteroid. He brought meaning and purpose to my existence. I'm now at peace and not alone after all.

Does it bring back Control-Click to Shuffle and album or play a song/video? I used that all the time without realizing it and keep getting thrown off now.

I submitted feedback to Apple right after they released the last update.

.

I still don't get it. On my 2013 rMBP, iTunes opens in one bounce, flawlessly jumps between 300GB of music, movies, and TV shows and syncs my devices every now and then.

I've never understood why it's so hated. Even the PC version from years ago on a 4200 rpm HDD ran well enough.

Can't they do delta updates on these things? 247 MB is overkill for a few bugfixes.
Heh, I was just thinking the same thing when I checked the download.

Have seen blog posts saying a few features are missing.
But currently I don't want to update. I will combine this update with PowerDVD install so that I only need to restart once. Keeping OS logged in is good for me now.

I use itunes maybe once a week to play a tune I can't find on spotify. At this point I think our needs as users are maturing at a faster pace than what Apple is offering.

Does the update also remove the bloated crap like iphone support, bookstore, movies, etc? Whatever happened to iTunes being for... you know, TUNES? It's such bloated crap.

I use it for all my movies, TV shows, podcasts, and audio books as well as synching and backing up my iPads and iPhone. I have Apple Music too but I don't use that very often via iTunes. I guess Apple just likes me better than you.

I use TV Shows, Movies, and Podcasts. I also have Apple Music. I would appreciate these things not going away. You guys had your update 12.4 with that useless sidebar :p. Let me enjoy my software.
