Alongside the release of iOS 11.1, macOS High Sierra 10.13.1, watchOS 4.1, and tvOS 11.1, Apple has released an updated version of iTunes for Mac machines.

iTunes 12.7.1 is a small update, with Apple's release notes saying only that it introduces minor app and performance improvements.

Today's iTunes update can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for free using the Software Update function.

iTunes 12.7.1 follows iTunes 12.7, a September update that introduced major changes to the iTunes software. iTunes 12.7 entirely revamps the iTunes app and removes the built-in App Store to focus solely on music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, and audiobooks.

On mine, the application icon is missing on the dock when open. Just shows a generic application icon.

Looks like the annoying bug that kept reporting that devices couldn't be sync'd (wirelessly) because they were locked with a passcode has been fixed; i.e. headless sync of trusted devices works again.

Good to see column browser fixed, although no reprieve for the edit playlist button.

For those who had a glimmer of hope, no app store :(

Sorry, I turned off automatic updates after Apple put iTunes 12.7 on my Mac without asking.

No 12.7.1 or later for me.

I wish I still had it :(.

Not sure if you are aware that it is possible to ‘down’grade to iTunes 12.6.3 (released AFTER 12.7) from 12.7. Obviously make sure you have full back-ups if you want to try it, but it’s perfectly doable apparently. Lots of guides online how to do it, e.g:

Excellent! This one was plaguing my iPad Pro - weirdly, not my iPhone.

Does anyone else have an issue with iTunes relaunching after closing it?
I’m wondering if I should either update through MAS or just reinstall into this new version to fix this issue.

Yes over the last year, once a week or every few days I'll quit iTunes and then a second later, the icon bounces and open it again (not so that you can see the iTunes display though) and you'll hear the MacBook doing something.
When I then check it a day later, it usually has done something sinister such as delete some tracks on random from the most played playlist or a favourite of it now, it simply picks one of my iTunes films and duplicates it!!! WEIRD! And very horrible! It has a mind of its own!
