looks like the software update preceded the official announcement.

A mistake? Perhaps. Could also mean there's so much to release/announce that even Apple personnel have hard time to do it right… who knows what else is there before WWDC ;)

Why isn't there new MBP's already…

In the podcast section, podcasts with "The" as the opening word are now sorted by the second word... "The Dave Ramsey Show" is now sorted under "Dave" not "The".

.... but my Shuffle still doesn't sync back to iTunes... *sigh*

EDIT: It also auto-sorts my shuffle by ALBUM not the normal SORT ORDER, which is an annoying bug. Have sent feedback to Apple.

I'm looking forward to seeing the higher quality music in the morning.

I wonder how good of a chance there will be that entire albums are upgraded free of charge as DRM-free albums are reportedly the same $9.99.

Straight from iTunes Help

The iTunes Store also offers songs without DRM protection, from participating record labels. These DRM-free songs, called "iTunes Plus," have no usage restrictions and feature higher-quality encoding.

The first time you buy an iTunes Plus song, you specify whether to make all future purchases iTunes Plus versions (when available). You can change this setting by accessing your account information on the iTunes Store.

If you already have iTunes Store purchases that are now available as iTunes Plus downloads, you may upgrade your existing purchases. To do so, visit the iTunes Store and follow the onscreen instructions.

I guess this answers the question of what iTunes will do with the original track after an upgrade.

From the Localizable.strings file:

"Your upgraded iTunes Plus music will replace the original purchases in your library. The replaced files will be moved to an “Original iTunes Purchases” folder inside your Trash."

"Your upgraded iTunes Plus music will replace the original purchases in your library. The replaced files will be moved to a folder named “Original iTunes Purchases” in your iTunes Music folder."

"Your upgraded iTunes Plus music will replace the original purchases in your library. Would you like to delete the original files or move them to a folder on your Desktop?"

You don't have to go through update. Go straight to apple.com.

What the heck. I'm throwing caution to the wind and doing ALL the available software updates without waiting for guinea pigs to test them first :)

Whan will Apple make us an all-over-the.world iTunes Music Store. I'm sick of not be let to buy in iTunes Music Store USA. I won't buy in Austria or Germany or Italy where I could be driving to and buying iTunes Gift Card. This stores are nothing like US Store. I will start to hate Apple and all the producers with the music companies when I wishes aren't fullfilled any time soon.

I never noticed that before. I guess the rest of it is so sharp I didn't look at the scroll bar.
Damn, now coverflow is ruined for me as I wont be able to focus on anything but that bar!
my bad lol

Test it? Heck, I'm reluctant to upgrade to iTunes 5 (Got to get ALL those bugs out:D)

Nah, I like the brushed steel look of iTunes 4, so that's where I'm staying.

Try resizing Cover Flow's black section. This ironed it out for me on my MB.

So do you think that the iTunes store will let us know which songs are iTune Plus songs?

Or are we just going to have to find them?

Yeah, I'm sure just keep it a mystery which songs have DRM restrictions and which don't. After all, it's people's favorite feature of the PlaysForSure stores.
