I disabled the Apple Music streaming elements, mainly because they replace your album artwork with the Apple versions. For the most part it feels like iTunes, but I do think older versions of iTunes were better. I wish syncing to the phone was still handled inside of the Music app instead of Finder. And I think the iTunes Store is worse than it used to be in terms of functionality.
the iTunes in Applw Music is alm0st the same asiTunes on a Windows P. There are few differences and they are insignificant. In fact iTnes PC has a few more features buut I rarely use them

But I stICK with the PC version aS i HAVE DONE FOR 20 YEARS

I'm no wizard that can look into the future, but knowing Apple's shenanigans, I wouldn't be surprised if Windows users somehow will not be able to get USB 3 speeds out of iTunes on Windows.

I will test this today and I guess I shall be the guinea pig. :(

I think windows actually handles most of the communication with the device rather than iTunes, so I would be surprised if this were the case. But I’ll also be testing it either way. I do know that starting a fresh local backup from a 14 pro is taking about 3-4 hours right now, pretty consistent with USB 2.0 480mbps speeds - hopefully restoring that backup onto the 15 pro will go a bit faster! It SHOULD only take 15-20 minutes.

I will get my iPhone later today and will report back.

It seems like I am getting 80-120MB/s while restoring, but only a measly 40 MB/s while transferring music. It is faster, but not as I expected.

Oof, that’s problematic. Were you using a 10gbps or faster USB-C cable? The one packed in with the phone is limited to USB 2.0 speeds, if you were not already aware.

Yes, I used a separate Anker USB 3.1 Gen 2 cable. It peaks above USB 2 speeds, so it is compliant at least.

Think I picked up the same anker cable to try this with… was REALLY looking forward to that blazing fast restore. Man. I wonder if anyone can check in and see if Macs also behave the same way (restoring from backup in Finder, or however it’s done on Mac)

Restoring a ~500GB backup now to a 15 Pro, using a 40gbps rated Anker cable. Yeah, iTunes is saying “about 4 hours”.
This is BAD, exactly the same as the USB 2.0 speeds we’ve been stuck with forever. 10gbps my ass. Literally the only exciting thing to me about this upgrade cycle was that transfer speeds over cable would not move at such a snails pace anymore but it looks like that’s still the case! What the f apple??
