You could also open it with Pacifist in a different Mac OS or use some other extractor in Mavericks, extract the files, then put them in manually. I don't know how annoying that would be to do.

Not hard at all. Easy to expand the package and then copy into:

/System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/

Reboot.

VMWare Fusion fix is a single line in your .vmx file

I haven't tested to see if it fixes flickering in Fusion while running single screen and auto mouse yet.

I also had the VMWare Fusion problem with the guest OS (Windows 7 in my case) starting to seriously flicker.

The Apple system update *does not* address this, AFAIK.

However, it can simply be fixed by editing the Boot Camp.vmx file that contains your VM settings.

Navigate to <user>/Library/Application Support/VMWare Fusion/Virtual Machines/Boot Camp/<show contents>.

Make sure your boot camp VM is not running.

Edit Boot Camp.vmx and add the following on a new line:

mks.vsync="1"

Save & restart VM. Job done.

I find your lack of faith disturbing. May the force be with you!

Now I'll have to buy it again and go through the insufferable wait!!

VJN8+

This time, though, I'll buy the i5 model... after intensively using the i7 one I could see I didn't need the extra power.

I guess this just proves that those who were screaming at the top of their lungs how bad Adobe is and how it's their fault, not Apple's, were wrong.

This fix is not 100% although it does help a bit. I did the edit and it still flickers on VM 5, but it is after I disconnect it from a ACD which never exhibits problems.

If I shut down then run clean its better, but occasionally still flickers.

I like the "in rare instances" part. Rare, as in, almost everyone?

Rare, yes. The reason that is seems that it's everywhere is because those that have problems are the ones complaining, while those of us with no problems rarely speak up.

Forums are not a good place to get demographics of how things are functioning.

you see a hundred complaints, but out og the hundreds of thousands sold, the majority are working fine.

Most people don't use forums. You wouldn't hear their complaint even if they had one.

So, in that sense, we could both be wrong. :p

I knew this would get fixed right away. I guess I'll be heading to Apple Store to pick up a new MacBook Air soon, maybe even this weekend.

Perhaps, but considering the amazingly tightly-focused bug, and Adobe's track record for producing amazingly buggy, resource-inefficient software and actively directing blame at everyone else, they are (and will continue to be) the first thing people will look at.

I haven't been plagued by the fixed issues, but bootcamp isn't working. Anybody facing the same issue? You have one chance to install Windows once bootcamp restarts, and if installation fails (and it will halfway through), the next restart will lock out both the keyboard and trackpad and you must erase the partition via bootcamp inside OSX for the keyboard and trackpad to work again, format it again, try installation again, failure results, and you end up in a vicious cycle.

Fusion 5 Fixed!

I had verrry intermittent wifi problems, almost unnoticeable, but Fusion was flickering horribly. It is now fixed, loving it! Wifi seems to be as well, hard to say though since it was so hard to detect in the first place. :)

Make sure you follow these instructions precisely.

Win 8 doesn't find the WLAN Hardware anymore

since I installed this update. Before the update I had no issues whatsoever. Now I can't use my Win 8 installation anymore. Anyone else has that problem ?

Whether you like it or not, APPLE is a highly regarded company, that many other companies aspire to, and want to emulate.

So are Microsoft and Samsung, but probably by a different set of people than the Apple lovers.

And some people don't like Microsoft, and some people don't like Samsung, and some people don't like Apple.

Some people "look up" to Apple, while others note that Apple has been convicted of illegal price manipulation.

The world is not full of Apple fans, nor is it full of Microsoft or Samsung fans.

Unfortunately, update did not fix the problem. I have i7/8GB/256SSD and can't download stuff and updates to my machine, it drops wifi connection all the time.

For example now I'm downloading Starcraft II and updating Dropbox (LAN mode) at the same time. MBA is not connected to power grid. If I leave it for few minutes, screen goes dark and RIGHT AFTER I click touchpad to see the progress, every service is reporting 'no internet connection' and Blizzard Uploader shows that the download speed is decreasing (standard behavior, it won't just jump to 0). So it has to do something with sleep modes.

I'm considering returning it for new one within 14 days :/ but I don't have time for setting my work environment from scratch.

No it's not. I've used Apple product for 10 years, YOU HAVEN'T becaus what you is a joke any company, tech or not, innovative or not, would laugh at.

NOBODY, not even casual PC/Mac user, except for stupid fanboys, believe this kind of BS.

The Macbook Air has been the SAME for 4 years, with the same SSD, about the same memory, the same form factor, except for the NORMAL/REGULAR processor, battery (due to Haswell) or Wifi updates (found on EVERY NEW COMPUTER) and although the component have gone cheaper, is sold for the same ****ing price.
