Apple has released MacBook SMC Update 1.3 for the latest white polycarbonate MacBooks.

Polycarbonate MacBook computers released in early 2009 may display slower performance when started up using battery power only. Restarting using battery power may not clear the condition.

You can resolve this issue by downloading and applying this update.

Apple quietly updated the entry-level white MacBook in January to the nVidia platform that was first introduced on the unibody MacBooks.

The update is available via Software Update or via Apple's website.

I would also like to see some kind of update to the old MBP's so they could have better performance on battery. I have noticed I was not getting 4 hrs of battery life when I bought my most recent battery than when I first bought my MBP.

+1 ^^^ update for MBP as well would have been really nice...

It doesn't improve battery life, only system stability and performance.

I don't know what this did, but wow my macbook actually goes pretty fast when starting up now. I have always had it plugged into the power, and was pretty dissapointed at starting up times, but figured it was a RAM issue.

Specifically, logging in was dog slow, the dock would come up a little slowly, and desktop items were veeery slow, like my old ibook G4, as well as the menu bar.

Now, it is SO much better, I can't believe it. It actually feels like a new mac!
