Apple Releases macOS Big Sur 11.2.3 With WebKit Security Fix

Apple today released macOS Big Sur 11.2.3, the fifth update to the macOS Big Sur operating system that launched in November. macOS Big Sur 11.2.3 comes two weeks after the release of macOS 11.2.2, a bug fix update.

The new ‌‌‌‌‌macOS Big Sur‌‌‌‌ 11.2.3 update can be downloaded for free on all eligible Macs using the Software Update section of System Preferences.

Apple says that macOS Big Sur 11.2.3 introduces important security updates and should be installed by all users, with an additional support document clarifying that the software addresses WebKit vulnerability that could allow maliciously crafted web content to execute code.

Apple has also released a new version of Safari (14.0.3) for macOS Catalina and macOS Mojave users.

I'm DESPERATE for a fix for my external 4K monitor. I've followed all the troubleshooting steps provided by Apple and even completely reinstalled macOS Big Sur from scratch! This is seriously hurting my productivity for work.

The funny thing is, my external monitor works perfectly fine when booted in Windows, so it's not a hardware issue.

I had the same problem, I was using USB-C to display port. The only thing that works for me is using a usb c hub that has an HDMI port on it. Never have any monitor issues outside of the normal things like resolution change.

I used to not care about this much, but Big Sur has been so awful and buggy for my business that I'm pushing every upgrade ASAP. Maybe they'll finally finish this operating system by the time the new MacBook Pros launch. 😩

I have 2 intel MBP's and a M1 mini.. Its showing on the 2 intel machines but not the M1.. Not sure what that means other than the update might still be staging for the M1's.

EDIT: Now showing up on M1 Mini, at 1:45 EST.

This. So much this. It's insane there is no fix for it yet. My LG UltraFine 4K and top spec 2020 MacBook Pro combo is a redundant investment.

Have they in fact? All we know are some strings that were found, that could be for future use. And frankly I've not seen this reported or discussed anywhere but here.

thanks! will try (still insane this problem persists). my problem relates to external screen frame rates when using the camera (lg Ultrafine 4k w mbp 2020).

None.

Probably they will deactivate Rosetta in a few countrys with a future update (according to some code references in macOS 11.3) but until now, there is nothing like this happening.

Big Sur's Sealed System Volume seems to restrict now small a "delta" update can be.

Don't t get your hopes up for bug fixes, this is merely a security oriented release. Main bug fixes should be coming with 11.3, and it kind of explains why Apple is taking their time with it.

Full installer already available too. Previously it took several days for the full installer to come out. Glad they were quicker this time.
