Just bought a new 2019 MacBook Air...

Anyone know why Catalina is taking 18+ hours to download? App updates from the Mac App Store downloaded at breakneck speeds, but Catalina downloads at a snails pace and eventually times out due to connection loss.

I had so many bugs on 10.14 Mojave from Hardware to Software that when 10.15 Catalina hit I had to go into internet recovery and install through their. Had it about a week now since ITunes got broken up Home Sharing got moved into the system settings and was tweaked just right so I can let my monitor go to sleep on my IMac and stream my Videos to my Apple TV. 10.15 also holds a more stable internet connection. I had problems to the extent on 10.14 I couldn't even install a DMG application but to file system errors that we're still present after reinstalling 10.14 so I'm glad to have my full functionality back and I may end up staying here a couple versions into the future because that's how stable it is and it's been that long since my Mac hasn't been haywire

My experience is that Mojave is very stable and I’m not willing to risk this stability by upgrading to Catalina until I feel that the extensive issues being reported by so many users have been resolved by inevitable future updates to 10.15.

I think it's on a case per case basis. For me, Catalina works fine. Just as well as Mojave did. I installed it several days ago and haven't had any issues. Not even the mail issue that many warned about that could cause email data loss. And I am running Catalina on a pretty old mid 2013 MacBook Air.

Stuck on install with the screen that says not enough free space. Restart and try again. 2015 MBPr. Ran disk utility first aid and rebooted twice. Also, tried holding down Shift, Control, Option, Power. Then released and powered on. Still stuck on not enough free space. I have over 100gb free. Anyone else have and resolve this. Thanks

EDIT: Had to reboot into recovery and restore last Time Machine backup. Won't be installing Catalina for awhile. First problem I ever had with any OS or iOS update.

Even though I have over 100gb free, when I look at it through Disk Utility it reads my external drives and says I have 20gb free. Maybe disconnecting them will help with install never had to do that before.

UPDATE: following on from my previous remarks, here and elsewhere, I've just grasped the nettle and updated to Catalina after identifying and removing 32bit apps.

The upgrade ran smoothly on my mid-2014 13" MBP and Catalina is running sweetly on my machine without any apparent issues.

My S1300 is abandoned now. There's an S1300i which is somehow different enough that my non-i is out of luck.

I contact Fujitsu and was told point blank the only difference between the S1300 and the S1300i was the firmware - the hardware is identical. I asked for an escalation to management, gave them my contact info and was told I would receive a call. Not shockingly, they never did. Needless to say Fujitsu won't get another dime from me even though they continue to send me the upgrade offer of $200 off a $600 scanner.
