Are you just trying the update, or have you tried booting from a bootable installer, installing from the full installer? You have to download that current full installer to make the bootable, too.
just trying from software update, haven't tried any alternative methods. Thanks for the tip!!

Yes - I don't normally use MAS to download current macOS installers. I use the python script "installinstallmacos.py" from github. There's a couple of different versions, and I use this one.
I ran that today, and noticed that 10.14.6 was updated today, with a new build number.
For those who might be nervous about using a non-Apple source for system installers, that's not really what happens here. It's just a script that goes to Apple's download servers, and gets whatever is current directly from Apple. Makes a simple process to keep my set of OS X/macOS installers up-to-date.
Awesome script!! Thanks for sharing :cool:

I think user-level features or emojis substantiate 0.1 increases. System security is supplemental.
Like it or not, it seems to me that this is accurate...

Apple has no problem with version iterations for security fixes for iOS (12.4.1 and 12.4.2 are fresh examples of that), and should be consistent with doing so for macOS as well.

It also begs that question as to why they elected not to apply the "Security Update-XXX" tag either.

Instead, we've got:

10.14.6 Supplemental Update (New Coke edition -- pulled and surreptitiously replaced)
10.14.6 Supplemental Update (Original Formula)
10.14.6 Supplemental Update 2 (The Real Thing…for now)

I don't know how anyone can rationally defend that practice when there are so many options available to help users distinguish between them.

Yes. This x 1,000. I just updated to Mojave this month because I was waiting for the .6 release (and will do the same for Catalina until I find replacements for all of my 32-bit apps). I think there's a workaround to use the new Reminders on iOS along with the web version (but not the Mojave version).

Perhaps Flexibits will develop a workaround? They have a blog post about it here, so I would keep checking for updates: https://flexibits.com/blog/2019/09/ios-13-and-ipados-13-cardhop-and-fantastical-2/

I know Agenda also pulls from Reminders. I wish Apple would just release a standalone version of Reminders (like Safari) for this release cycle but then people like me would have less of a reason to upgrade to Catalina (looks like Things 2 and Wunderlist for another year).

I don't recall another release cycle so mixed up across their entire echo system. I can't wait for them to finish pushing out all of their subscription services, bank cards, and whatnot... so they can get back in sync again.

Ah someone that feels my pain! I told my phone to not upgrade Reminders just yet - but now I can’t create Reminders in Fantastical, I have to use Siri which can be hit or miss.

Weird thing is it works fine on Mojave. Thankful for that!!

It turns out that the link to the update page downloads v2, but one can't be sure when the main browser page entry is dated August 26th, the item page post date is dated September 26th, and there is no mention of "2" anywhere.

(And let's not get into the ridiculousness that this is actually the third "supplemental update" that has been posted.)

In my defense I was only doing some fingercounting as a an Arstechnica article on the 2nd of August, a friday, said
It was just over a week ago that Apple released macOS 10.14.6, but the company has already pushed out a Supplemental Update. Released today, the update fixes a heretofore not-widely-known issue involving sleep mode on Macs.

And a MacWorld article writes on the 26th of august:
Apple on Monday released the macOS Mojave 10.14.6 Supplemental Update. According to the release notes, the update:

Resolves an issue that may cause certain Mac notebooks to shut down during sleep
Fixes an issue that may degrade performance when working with very large files
Addresses an issue that may prevent Pages, Keynote, Numbers, iMovie, and GarageBand from updating

And so I began looking at my fingers for counting but gave up and used Calendar.app and August 26th is a monday.

And now have what I call a "third" supplemental update.. I also do this because I was witness to the two supplemental updates showing up for my Mac during the duration of using 10.14.6. And emotions is a good indicator of memory imprint as I was furious that I had to download some 2GB on each occasion and it takes forever to unpack and install. Let's say it was ~2GB - might have been less but I hope people get the gist of what I am saying.

Unless someone writing articles on the internet, is incredible late to the game, I don't know what to say.

This entry is just to put my view into perspective and I might appear to ya'll as a nutter and an imbecil but I can live with that.

Edit... I see the above post ... I apologize for this not useful post at all.

If so, why make it so close to the release date of Catalina? Most macOS users will not make it to the this Supplemental Update. They don't read Apple-geek blogs.

I'm an Apple-geek and I don't plan to upgrade to Catalina right away. It doesn't bring much new to the table and it's an update that changes quite a bit of things at the core (like dropping 32-bit support) so I'd rather wait a bit for issues to shake out before upgrading.

How can I stop my 2019 iMac from asking me to update to this new supplemental update 2? I installed the first supplemental update a week ago but I read too many people having issue installing this supplemental update 2 and I don’t want to take any risks

Apple today released a second supplemental update for macOS Mojave 10.14.6, the current release version of macOS that's available to the public.

The macOS Mojave 10.14.6 Supplemental Update can be downloaded by going to the "Software Update" section of System Preferences and selecting the Update Now option. There are also updates available for macOS Sierra and macOS High Sierra.

There's little detail on what's included in today's update, but Apple's release notes say that it "improves the security of macOS" and is recommended for all users. According to a support document, it addresses a vulnerability that could allow remote attacker to "cause unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution."

The next-generation version of macOS, macOS Catalina, is still in beta testing and is set to see a public release sometime in October, though Apple has not specified when.

This has broken our Microsoft Remote Desktop app (10.3.3) whilst using Shimo VPN to connect to a customer but oddly enough only from within our corporate network behind a Sonicwall firewall, our Macs are all connected JAMF - has anyone else had RDP problems since this patch?
