Apple Releases macOS Sequoia 15.1.1 With Security Fixes

Maybe they fixed a years old security hole, that could affect you with a chance of 0,000001%. They will tell you about it not before there is a fix. So mostly it isn't really urgent.

I used High Sierra since 2023 and had no security problems.

The install on my m1 mbp Looked suspicious with several Stuck Progress Bars and black screens for minutes. Cant they make that less creepy?

That's really annoying with those many progress bars that doesn't say anything and you don't know what's happening. They mostly don't even show any percentage or time remaining and move very strange. I have this with every beta update.

I suppose eventually my Mac OS Auto Update and Install will eventually do its thing. My iMac M3 is still on Sonoma 14.6.1.

I think to update to 15, you have to take some action in the Software Update section of System Settings

Hopefully they fixed the M1 MacBook's grainy camera bug.

M1 Max 16 in just updated and unfortunately it has NOT been fixed. Seems like 15.1.1 is mainly security updates. Hopefully 15.2 will fix this.

In this instance it's only an urgent security patching for security vulnerabilities. JavaScriptCore and WebKit for specific devices.

Sadly, yes. It should be fixed with the 15.2 update on December 9.

Didn't show on my MacBook Pro 14-inch M1 Pro, had to manually download the full (24B91) installer. On my Mac mini M4 Pro it installed normally (24B2091).

It's an actively exploited zero-day. We have no idea how far back it goes since Apple won't talk about anything more than a couple releases back.

For me 15.1.1 fixed a bug where Spotlight could not find entries in System settings e.g. Bluetooth, Displays, ...
I think 15.1 introduced this problem into my system. Reindexing Spotlight did not help but the upgrade to 15.1.1 did.

Since the update my external ssd doesn't eject properly. Always the massage "it's in use by a Finder App or by a Programm" thought no Apps are running.
