Mac users can download the ‌‌‌macOS Sequoia 15.6 update through the Software Update section of System Settings. It is available for free on all Macs able to run macOS 15.

macOS Sequoia 15.6 is light on new features. According to Apple's release notes, the update provides important bug fixes and security updates.

More information on the features in macOS Sequoia can be found in our macOS Sequoia roundup. Apple will soon replace macOS Sequoia with macOS Tahoe, an update that is being beta tested ahead of a fall launch.

I used to like Mac OS updates. Now. it feels more like a chore fest. You have to update, your Mac,your phone, your TV and even your watch. Do all these devices require the same amount of updates and at the same time ?

I just let everything auto update. Within a week or so, it's all done.

The only ones that I manually update are the iMac and MBA. The rest I leave it on auto update. So eventually all the other Apple stuff I have will update. I also wait a few days to update the Mac computers.

The words that stands out for me in your post are "have to". You don't "have to" do anything. Apple is not forcing you to do anything, so if you're feeling stressed about these periodic updates, maybe there's something else going on?

As others have said, Auto-Update is completely transparent and requires no effort (or stress) at all.

Regarding updates across multiple devices, the reason that Apple is able to maintain so many operating systems is because they are all extending from the same "core" codebase.... same libraries and frameworks. So if a bug is fixed in a framework, it needs to be updated in all variant operating systems. Updates don't always have visible changes, but they likely contain important under-the-hood changes that shouldn't be overlooked. Software is organic and updates are critical.

I have auto updates setup on all devices and for the most part it is a breeze. The only thing bothering me is when because of either me working at that time or my battery is below treshold, then those notifications for updates are too distracting… then it becomes a chore when I have to manually dismiss that notification time and time again, sometimes it takes a week when I can let it update (if I am on a project and is not “safe” to update). But other than that I agree with you…

Thought is was about that time... Slamming it on M1 Max Studio and Pro M3 14" MBP.

I conveniently backed up both of the systems to my external 14 GB drive this morning too!

I must say, though they screwed up some wired 10GB network adapter driver things a while ago that are still problematic, overall my TS3+ DP-connected 27" AOC display and other connected peripherals have played nicely since I purchased the M1 Max the 1st week of the initial release. I've always run the resolution of the AOC at 3008 x 1692 @60Hz using EasyRes.

Currently on 15.5. Will Apple AI be automatically enabled and downloading after updating to 15.6? I think i had this experience before and want to prevent it, because it caused a bug with the system data calculation (it calculates endlessly when apple ai enabled)

If you have multiple Macs, setting one up as a Content Caching server speeds things up quite a bit. The server feeds it to your other Macs over the local network.
