Any chance they finally fixed the trackpad zoom bug? I've been getting it for about 6 months now and it is a constant, several times a day annoyance.

this is basically people writing articles being lazy, it is easy to say "New Emoji's" than to go through all changes and understand them and highlight them here.
I mean, that is going to be the most exciting part for many people. Some of my family members included.

Apple today released macOS Ventura 13.3, the third major update to the macOS Ventura operating system that was released last October. macOS Ventura 13.3 comes two months after the launch of macOS Ventura 13.2, an update that added Security Keys for the Apple ID.

The ‌‌macOS Ventura‌‌ 13.3 update can be downloaded for free on all eligible Macs using the Software Update section of System Settings.

macOS Ventura 13.3 adds new emoji characters that include pea pod, ginger, pink heart, blue heart, gray heart, donkey, moose, black bird, goose, wing, and jellyfish, among others.

There are bug fixes to fix an issue that could cause Trackpad gestures to stop working, along with a number of other small features and tweaks. Apple's full release notes for the update are below:macOS Ventura 13.3 is expected to be one of the last updates to the macOS Ventura operating system as Apple shifts its attention to the next-generation of macOS that's expected this June.

Screen time still broken FML. Thought it was working until I updated the iPad and broken everywhere still. How is this seven months in to a new update issues. Insane.

Amazing that this day and age Mac updates still take such a long time. Several gigs in size, take forever to prepare and install. On an M1 MacBook Air it was probably over 20 minutes to prepare, install, then do the post reboot install bit. Windows updates on the other hand take mere minutes, even the large releases. Mac updates seem to be going backwards and getting longer and longer.

Still not fixed the fact the network stack is hot garbage. Response time to local router varying between 4-40ms

I hope we can assume you've sent this to Apple feedback. It's not exactly a common problem/situation you're venting about.
You can asume yes. Common enough on the Apple support forum and a few hundred claiming to have the same issue to expect a fix by now. Not just 5 bay external drive housing are an issue but for many any external housing.

iChat and Photo Booth special effects and backgrounds used to be big highly marketed features every update or two, how is this any different?
They were usually fun/useful examples of how underlying technology changes/additions could be used though. Emoji are not.

Last OS update I did on a MBA M1 lasted 3 minutes?

I'm actually hoping there is going to be a lot of cleanup/re-write once Intel is dropped like there was between 10.5 and 10.6

None of my M1's are that fast. they are all around 30min, not including DL time. Meanwhile my much slower Surface Pro 8 will DL install and Reboot a Windows 11 "Moment" update before the M1 is even ready to reboot. I think much of the slowdown is just how slow Apples servers are to let you even DL the update.

weird.
for some reasons my m1 suddenly seems to be faster… 🤔
…let's hope that this doesn't come with a fast battery drain…

Just installed the latest update on a MBA M1: 4 minutes and 33 seconds. Installed it in between my previous comment and this reply. How full is your Macintosh HD? I've got 230GB free.

168gb free here and took minimum 20mins on M1 MBA, after it was downloaded

Was the RC stable and bug free?

i.e. any show stoppers or its safe to update?
Beta 4 and RC were stable, I used it on a M1 24" iMac and a 16" M1 Max MBP just fine.

The Safari 16.4 extension with host issue in Beta 2/3 was fixed in Beta 4 against M1 Macs. Safari 15.4 caused panics when it went to sleep pausing video playback. After that was resolved it ran perfectly using beta 4 and RC..

Doesn't even get to a .4 release before getting replaced by an entirely new version, and the headline feature is ****ing emojis

macOS is in such a sad state.
I disagree with the main article. I'm expecting at least 2 more major updates. The article says:

‌macOS Ventura‌ 13.3 is expected to be one of the last updates to the ‌macOS Ventura‌ operating system as Apple shifts its attention to the next-generation of macOS that's expected this June.
Nah. June is when Apple will reveal the next macOS version (name, features, etc), as well as the developer beta. It won't be until at least September that we'll get macOS 14 in its final state. We aren't expecting macOS 14 in June.

We'll probably get 13.4 in May/June, 13.5 in August or so, and probably 13.6 in September/October alongside 14.0, based on past precedence.

I have easily 300GB free. None of the Dev Previews have installed quickly for me.

Tried a clean install on an external ssd connected to my Mac Studio and it is very slow (it seems to hang) 13.3 but after much patience it succeedes.
