Product Description Bad!!! Cant Open iWork 08 Docs

I bet they still fail to tell people in the product description that you can open iWork 08 docs or spreadsheets. So much for backwards compatable it would have been nice to know that before i got numbers for my iPad so i could edit a spread sheet i was working on on my laptop with iWork 08......i requested refund and got no reply.....Super Disapointed Apple :mad:

It's about time. It looked really stupid to have to tilt my iPad from landscape mode in my lap to portrait to access the toolbar in Pages.

Plus, I was only successful exporting 1 out of 5 attempts when trying to get documents out of Pages. The other 4 times, I resorted to emailing.

syncd my ipad last night with the new update. no work was lost. really like the fact of having the tool bar in landscape mode. Now we jut need to allow for sub bullet points (kinda like how work works, where if you indent an entire paragraph, it changes the bullet to represent a sub-bullet under a main point). Of course that means we have to had indenting of an entire paragraph.

iwork o nthe ipad is a 1.0 release, but first release is really nice. can't wait for future updates and added features. I did not find it fustrating to use the virtual keyboard for a 4-page sermon. I will enjoy my ipad immensly.

I hope they will add "Save to MobileMe" feature. I don't understand why they're not utilizing MobileMe for saps like me that pay for it.

that would be cool also.

+1 that is one thing that I think would make these apps so much better

Really needs a file manager.

I believe you are all referring to iWork.com. It is still in beta, but based on the recent rumors and Apple's moves, I wouldn't be surprised to see iWork.com merge into MobileMe, link up with the iPad and iWork apps, and maybe even become free with iAds built into the service. Perhaps iAds will be in a basic version and then you pay for the pro iAd free version! I would love that! Add to that Lala, and the new data center and it starts to make lots of sense! :D

File managers are a thing of the past in Apple's new mobile computing paradigm! All apps are aware and find the documents that relate to them automatically. There is a new one of sorts, the graphical documents you can swipe through at the beginning... THAT is your file manager now! :p

Funny. I decided to read this thread because as a non iPad owner, I've been wonderng how documents are 'saved' in iWork apps on iPad. I too assumed there was an upload/save to iDisk feature for 'saps like me that pay for [MobileMe]' as well. :)-
No? Ouch, seems like a huge miss.
And by 'miss' I mean typical Apple product/feature roll out scheme: hold off on some blatanty obvious features, then trickle them out over time.

That out of the way, how are docs saved? Synced back to Mac via iTunes? Can one have several Pages, Number and/or Keynote docs in the works/saved on an iPad that will later sync to a Mac for further ediing in the desktop iWork suite?
