Did you enable the Developer mode on your iPhone? And in Settings | Developer | Pre-Release Beta Firmware -> Your AirPods Pro 2 -> On?
Mine the same and yes I have developer mode enabled and Pre-Release Beta Firmware turned on for my AirPod Pro 2’s as well as AirPod Max…..

Apple today released a new firmware update for the AirPods Pro 2, including both the Lightning and USB-C versions. The firmware has a build number of 7A5290a, up from 7A5266c, and it is available to developers at the current time. This is the fourth firmware update that Apple has released since announcing new AirPods Pro 2 features in June.

There are multiple features that are coming to the AirPods Pro 2 as part of iOS 18, and these features are included in the firmware update.

With head gestures, users can control Siri on the AirPods Pro with a shake or a nod of the head. If you get a phone call, for example, you can shake your head no if you don't want to answer it, or nod to accept the call. Siri interactions can be used for responding to incoming messages, calls, and notifications.

Apple is adding Voice Isolation to the AirPods Pro to cut down on loud background sounds to make you easier to hear, and there is a new Personalized Spatial Audio feature specific to gaming. Game developers will be able to incorporate spatial audio into their games for a more immersive audio experience.

The new firmware is limited to developers at the current time, but it will be available to all iOS 18 users following the public launch of the new software.

Cute and useful yet it cannot or doesn't remind you about your poster to better align your neck from broken-neck-lady syndrome (House on Haunted Hill). Galaxy Buds2/Buds3 Pro can though.

An aside note:
A few former colleagues I worked with 4 years ago, natively born in India, made me privy to a custom shortly after a an I.T. meeting which focused on Service Desk / Customer Service and how non-verbal communication could be misrepresented.

One in particular to Indian's (although I'm unsure if cultural relevance to languages/faith affects this or not, but not my focus) was how a head nod, a combination of yes and no at the SAME TIME means "I hear what you're saying but I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with it. I'll decide and tell you later" This was profound to me as being in Service Desk reps tend to say YES when we'd really want to say no, and do so in fear of silent backdoor reprimands like quarterly performance reviews affecting potential bonuses, backlash leading to no recommendation from management for promotions etc.

Funny as another colleague 3 months later, also with heritage in India replied the SAME head-nod when I came in for shift and he asked me to perform a duty HE was reponsible for the week before and was late in completing yet management hadn't received any feedback from the customers as of yet: likely would that same day. When I asked him "you were supposed to complete this last week, did you not do anything on it yet?!"
reply: squircle head-nod
my reply: "Bruh! Don't you give me that head nod and think I don't know what that means! I'm not doing ANYTHING on that project that you were assigned to without a solid answer from you cause I'm not taking the fall for it"
his reply: shameful grin with a blush (caught red handed)

But I laughed SUPER hard right after seeing his shameful grin with blush. I helped him of course but felt good as I always saw that nod for months before it was explained.

So would a future update support the Indian Squircle head-nod and deny a call with a message "I understand your call is important but I'll get back to you later" ?! ;)

The Squircle!

I have found that if I connect my AirPods Pro 2 (USBC) directly to my iPhone 15 Pro via a USBC cable, the firmware is updated within 10-12 minutes of establishing the connection. Your mileage and experience may vary.

I confirm
