Apple Releases New AirPods Pro 2 Firmware

Apple today released a new firmware update for the AirPods Pro 2, with the software available for both the USB-C and Lightning models. The AirPods Pro 2 firmware has a build number of 7A305, up from the 7A302 firmware released earlier in September.

There is no word yet on what's included in the firmware, but Apple is planning to add hearing aid and hearing test features to the AirPods Pro 2 in the not too distant future.

The firmware update could potentially lay the groundwork for those capabilities ahead of when the full feature set comes out in an iOS 18 update. Apple has already received FDA approval for the hearing aid functionality for the AirPods Pro 2.

Apple doesn't have a way to manually upgrade AirPods software, but firmware is generally installed over-the-air when the AirPods are in a charging case and connected to an iOS device or Mac.

My airpod pro 2’s are playing to sinve the update. Loads of interference, blanking, happening all the time making them unusable at times?? Anyone else having similar??

Yes, issues are happening for me on 7A305 as on the build before it. Makes them unusable when outside or traveling. Seems like its RF-shielding is not working.

I'll say though that with the last firmware update, I have noticed that occasionally the AirPods Pro when in their case will make a small electronic sound, like a series of beeps. It's a very soft sound that some ears might not detect. I wonder if this new firmware will get rid of this sound.

The beeps are still there even with this latest updated firmware. I don’t see a pattern and it doesn’t happen often

I've been having issues with switching between Adaptive and Transparency Mode that weren't present on the previous firmware.

I don't know which update did this, but, the conversation awareness got much much better. It no longer thinks I'm speaking when I clear my throat or cough or sneeze. I might actually use this feature now 😅
I wish more Apple products improved over time like Airpods Pro 2 have 😅

Within the last two or three days, I started hearing some very faint remnants of sound when wearing my AirPods. For example, today there was some music in the office I was in and I could hear an extremely faint delay of that same sound.
