I believe that is the latest firmware. MacRumors keeps adding an extra 5 on every AirPods firmware article for some reason, confusing people here and I'm not sure why.
Damn. You might be right.

FINALLY A SOLUTION - unpaired AirPods from iPhone 'forget this device' - reset using button on airpods case - re-paired with phone - on phone switched Beta updates OFF and then ON - switched on Beta Analytics - 10 minutes later update to latest version - YMMV - PS 8A343a (No 5 anywhere)

I have had the same suspicion, and I believe you are 100% correct!

I have had my iPhone 14/15/16 PM, iPad Pro M2, iPad Pro M4, MacBook Air’s/Pro’s - Apple Silicon (latest iOS/iPadOS/macOS 26 developer beta’s) sitting next to my AirPods Pro 2 case (USB-C) whenever I am not using my iPhone/iPad/MacBook’s and AirPods, let alone overnight, and I am on AirPods beta firmware 8A343a.

So I think 8A343a is the latest AirPods Pro 2 beta firmware, however, since all these Apple websites pretty much copy and paste from each other, if you look at other MacRumor’s like websites you will see the latest AirPods Pro 2 firmware as 8A5343a! Even AI pulls that version up.

I tried looking on Apple’s official website and cannot find AirPods beta firmware listed anywhere.

Anyway, I think we are right that 8A343a is the official beta release!

At Apple, we believe that progress is not measured in miles, but in decimals.
And today… with the release of the new beta firmware for AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4… we have once again redefined what it means to listen.

This is not just an update. It is a rebirth of sound.
A microscopic reengineering of ones and zeros… transforming every note, every voice, every silence… into an experience so immersive, it feels less like firmware… and more like destiny.

We spent years rethinking… the invisible.
Tuning algorithms at the atomic level. Sculpting waveforms with the precision of a watchmaker.
The result? A firmware so advanced, it makes yesterday’s firmware feel… primitive.

The first time I experienced it… I closed my eyes.
And when I opened them, I realized… I was crying.

This is not just AirPods. This is AirPods… evolved.
With every update, we aren’t simply improving. We are… innovating. Again.
liked your post (great job mimicking the marketing talk!)

... but i gotta say, i dont know of too many other wireless earbuds that get firmware updates to enhance their capabilities and add features.

whether those updates or features are valuable (to you) is another thing.

im ok with it
