Notice any differences with the update? Also how do we update the AirPods Max? Just leave them in the case?
I just played music on my Max's via the iPhone for about 20 minutes, plugged them into power (lightning) and left them alone. Took a look about 10 minutes later and they were updated. Didn't use the 'case' or do anything specific. Just used them, then charged them.

Well 2 out of 3. AirPod Pro Updated first. Hour later Beats Fit Pro. AirPod Max still at 6A26

Update. Apparently mine immediately updated as they have been 6A26 since I plugged them in.

As intended, the new Airpods Pro 3 are imminent and it needs the MH4 to filter cabin noises now as the H2 is not sufficient to do so.
Doesn’t matter they can bring the old ANC just like i remember when i first bought them (AirPods Pro 2nd Gen) first two months November, December 2022 the noise cancellation was just ridiculously good i couldn’t even hear my own voice after that… Well with updates they ruined it apparently for safety reasons 🤦🏻‍♂️ Apple transparency mode exists for a reason so when i go out i switch to transparency mode to hear my surroundings but when i want to Active Noise Cancellation i want it 100% to work not to nerf it by 60%.

Have you tried replacing the ear tips? I did, and re-ran the ear tip fit test and they sounded better to me.

I hope this does something to improve the noise cancelling (active, which I understand means that it constantly listens out for loud noises and adjusts the noise cancelling appropriately) of the AirPods Pro 2. It would be better if it were possible to adjust it manually, as often I find that many sounds never get any cancelling at all. I'm sure Apple could be the best in this regard with a little more work.

OMG, I've been screwing around with the volume for a month trying to figure out why I can't hear my songs like I used to...had no idea they fiddled with the ANC formula. Are the Beats any better? or did they screw that up too? Any other mfg with real ANC?

I wish they would address the bluetooth distance with the latest gen AirPods Pros. The first gen Pros had amazing distance I could walk around almost anywhere in my house without disconnecting. Now I can barely get connection in the next room with the new generation. Makes no sense.

There needs to be a software update submenu inside the airpods settings menu to see version and check for updates. This is ridiculous.
Not as ridiculous as airpods themselves not being accessed through an app like the watch instead of having to drill down through settings. And why not easy access to the cloud so you dont have to puke your mail files all over your storage space on your phone or iPad.

I recommend the YouTube channel, Aaron Loud and Wireless. He goes through all types of wireless headsets and posts changes for each firmware along with actual metrics he measures with professional tools. He does side-by-side comparisons to previous firmware updates concentrating on any changes to ANC, sound quality (complete with wave charts), and microphone quality. When I watch his videos, I find it amusing when people comment on huge changes to things that weren’t affected at all by the firmware updates.

No way to get it to update to 6F8 the pods stubbornly stick to 6F7 😡

It secretly made it to 6F8… curious about the changes 🙄

Your instructions are old, because my iOS 17 iPhone puts the AirPods menu at the top level of the Settings app, not under General > About, and only when the AirPods case is open and the AirPods are inserted in the case.

huh?

it‘s way better than last year now
The AirPods had the best ANC on any headphones I ever tried when I bought them. Now they don't filter anything, no voices, no engine noises, no traffic. I thought at first that the rubber tips wore out so I ordered new ones. Still the same. I can clearly make out the white noise that they used to cancel out before.
