Apple today provided public beta testers with new releases of upcoming iOS 26.5, iPadOS 26.5, macOS Tahoe 26.5, watchOS 26.5, and tvOS 26.5 updates for testing purposes. The public betas come a day after Apple provided the betas to developers. These are the third iOS 26.5 and iPadOS 26.5 betas, but the second macOS Tahoe 26.5 public beta.

After signing up for beta testing on Apple's beta site, public beta testers can download the updates using the Software Update section of the Settings app on each device.

iOS 26.5, iPadOS 26.5, and macOS Tahoe 26.5 include a new Suggested Places feature for recommending nearby locations to visit, and Apple is also gearing up to start showing ads in Maps.

Apple is testing end-to-end encryption for RCS messages between iPhone and Android users again, and there are proximity pairing, notification forwarding, and Live Activities for third-party wearables in the EU.

Beta 3 fixed my dead Live Activities problem, so now I can see sports scores and stuff in the Dynamic Island again, huzzah.

I honestly don’t even want to update because of the ads
Google Maps has had them for a while.
For me, the expectation has always been for Apple to be better, not the same, as everyone else.

I thought Apple was suppose to "Think Different"

“Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren’t used to an environment where excellence is expected.”

- Steve Jobs

I don't think there are no more users of iPhone XR, XS, XS Max so makes one wonder, will the ads also show in iOS 18.x ?

Let's hope that John Ternus will turn Apple around in terms of ads and services. Remove ads from Apple apps including the App Store and bring features that users actually need while making sure to minimize bugs and maintain stability.

Someone else reminded me, iAds started under Steve Jobs so they’ve been doing ads for some time now.

Ever since iOS 26.5 beta 1 iPhone Air battery life has gotten like 30-50% better, not an exaggeration. Pretty astounding. Can’t wait to trade-in Air 1 for Air 2!!

Since upgrading to the latest beta I am no longer able to access the Internet except through terminal (ping works) or Chrome. All other apps get communications failure. Anyone else have this issue?

Yes and it was free on app stores as you were feeding Google info. The entire premise of Apple’s “premium” experience is to avoid doing stuff like that. Now they’re becoming just like them. This isn’t the defense you think it is.

There most certainly are people running older OS'. Wife runs an XR.

Anyone else experiencing dropped mouse connection in the latest Beta 26.5? Mine drops every few minutes and returns a minute or so later.
