Hmm, apparently I’m a bit behind on the firmware updates 🙄.

Same here!

I was on the same firmware, plugged the MagSafe into my MacBook, and it was upgraded shortly after. I suspect it never got upgraded before as I always had it plugged into an Anker power brick.

Huge change immediately - the MagSafe charger doesn't get nearly as hot anymore.

Thank you MacRumors! I would never have upgraded if it wasn't for this article :)

Not expecting any change to be noticeable with respect to the charging speeds. iPhone does get quite hot while charging using MagSafe. I use my MagSafe charger occasionally.

25w MagSafe and 30w brick still doesn’t charge any where near as fast as usb c 20w wired
Yeah, because 30% of the power is converted into heat instead going into the battery. That's why I never charged my iPhones once with wireless chargers. And the speed of course. :)

Enjoy the charging port while we still have one. You still have two ways to recharge the iPhone battery and add attachments.

If Apple removes the USB-C port, there will be no external way to access a stuck iPhone to try and recover it's operation.

So it’s not any faster than the older 15w MagSafe. What’s the point of the 25w one

After plugging it into my mac, it's now looks a little better.
