I never saw the point of MagSafe, at home anyway. It's not any quicker than plugging in a usb cable
I couldn't agree more! I never use wireless charging. I don't understand how plugging a "wireless" (bs) charger could be quicker. Plus, it's less efficient.

I gave up using wireless charging of my iPhone shortly after noticing how hot it got. And you can bet that a higher energy wireless charger will make your phone even hotter, shortening its battery life cycle. I just plug my MacBook Air into one of our USB-C outlets, and plug the iPhone into the other USB port on the Mac. Both fully charged every morning, and cool as a cucumber.
I never charge my phones wirelessly due to the heat and the fact that it charges much slower on top of it.

What happens if there is an emergency call in the middle of the night? Personally I keep my phone on my bedside table on a MagSafe stand as my alarm clock.

It rings and I hear it, and go see what is happening. I always have my ringer on when at home as I don't keep my phone on me.

I have a regular ol' alarm clock in our room. We don't like to have tech in the bedroom; no phones, tv, smart speakers, etc.

If I have an iPhone 14 Pro, will I benefit from this new charger at all? I have the old magsafe charger that I bought like 2-3 years ago.

Ok granted for charging in a car, as a driver. And it allows to hold the phone as well.
That’s pretty much it.
I was talking about it’s use at home.
Your case is very niche on top of being unhealthy (which you agree).

I didn’t say having the phone within reach was unhealthy. What you *do* with the phone and *when* you do it can be unhealthy. For me, it’s my only phone, my calendar, and my alarm clock. I know how to (not) use it when in bed, so it’s quite alright.

I’m not sure my use case is intuitively niche. Do you have data showing that people don’t use their phone as an alarm/phone, in a silent manner so as not to disturb a partner?
Are there other solutions? Sure. I’ve solved mine with an existing device and a $30 magnetic charger.

Sure do! I conducted a randomized, double-blind study among 2104 participants showing that nobody stick it’s phone to a magsafe charger somehow stuck under one’s bedsheet.
