But still didn't fix the M1 Macbook's freezing and crashing at random intervals. Hope they get this sorted soon.

Some of you may find this of interest. I like this guy's take on things generally.

Problem with Chrome or Firefox: Update takes about 2 minutes, no restart necessary.
Problem with Safari: Update takes about 30 minutes up to an hour. The device is not available during update.

Apple, I want to use your products, I don't want to have a gigantic update every couple of days, because there is again a serious issue, you overlooked.

Safari is just a two minute update. It’s the OS security update that takes about 30 minutes.

Thank you, Apple! I appreciate all the security updates. :)

I am stubborn and will not switch to Chrome or Firefox. Though, I do wish Safari worked on more websites. :( This new extension App Store has been great. Love the DuckDuckGo extension.
Apple ruined the extension support when they made the changes in version 12.0. If I can’t use U-Block I won’t use Safari. It already has issue with enough websites that it’s hard to make it your default.

Firefox with U-Block and the Duck privacy extensions and Duck as the default search engine is my choice. I NEVER see ads. And all of my web pages work and no Chrome either.

HUH? safari 14.0 was just available for MacBook airs why just yesterday-
what did apple leave out in a day?
does safari 14.1 have a white bezel?

Why is it that both the base OS and Safari had to be patched yesterday with macOS 11, whereas in today's updates only Safari had to be patched for macOS 10.14 and 10.15?
Big Sur introduced the Sealed System Volume. While there is much good to this, it also means that anything that lives in the system volume requires an OS patch, which is a large "minimum" download. In this case, unlike Catalina and Mojave, that includes what might simply be a fix to WebKit.

For macOS updates?

Thanks. I usually check Apple's macOS Downloads page for updates, but often it is days (and sometimes a week or more!) after the updates are released via Software Update before they show up on the Downloads page.

And, as we know, Safari updates don't appear on the Downloads page. :(

It would be nice to know how links to the downloads are obtained. Maybe there's a way to do this via Software Update. Or is this information only available to developers?

How long does it take to show up usually? No safari update shows up in “software updates” for me. It only shows Big Sur update. I’m running Mojave.
In case anyone else is still waiting for their update to show, mine didn’t show up until today when I restarted my Mac. So try that. It’s an important security update so best to do it ASAP.

I installed Safari 14.1 (14611.1.21.161.7) update on Mojave about two hours ago. It seems to work. It doesn't fix the problem with Leaflet, visible in OpenStreetMap, where Safari seems to work differently from other browsers: the left mouse button does not activate some of the buttons at the right edge of the window. OSM discussion.

Here is a link for the DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials extension:

It works only with macOS 10.15+, so not with Mojave. I'll stick with Ad and Stuff Blocker, which seems to do a good job with ads, including in videos.

First release of Safari 14.1 wouldn't load many mainstream websites. Apple's suggestion - erase computer. After research, discovered it was having difficulty loading javascript - disabled loading javascript and problem went away. Newly released 14.1 doesn't have the problem.

Not just on M1, so many times it freezes here (MBP 13" 2019 with Mojave), then I load the very same URL on Firefox and no issues. Embarassing to say the least, let's say pathetic. Thanks Apple.
