Apple Releases New Sunflower, Cloud Blue and Electric Orange iPhone 12 Cases

My experience doesn't reflect this. My wife buys cheaper cases and watch bands and they fall apart. I buy the Apple ones and they last years. Maybe that isn't everyone's experience, though.

In all seriousness, if you could point me to some third party cases and watch bands that are cheaper, that would be cool.

You know I miss the day when apple updated their ipad smart covers and folios colors too. They seem to neglect them these days. Same 5 generic colors for the past few years. White, black, deep navy, super dark green and then that random orange.

Sure. But why stop putting it out if people keep buying?

Obviously, the asking price isn't hundreds of dollars per case. But the mark-up on these must be astronomical thinking about how little r&d and materials must cost.

Oh man, I was just about to order a Kumquat case.

Though that Sunflower looks amazing too.

Dangit.

I put the Kumquat case on my 12 ProMax this week (first Apple silicone case; first MagSafe case) and the color is wonderful: not too dark, not too light, not too orange, not too pink. (I finally tired of my ultra protective UAG Civilian case and its dreary dark gray color).

Order the Kumquat AND the new Sunflower!

For those who love to grouse about Apple's cases: The build quality and the materials are superb. (Superior to the third-party case I have for my 8+.) A new phone case in a great color for an object I use multiple times a day is, for me, a terrific way to bring a little more joy into daily life.

And the 226+ pages of the iPhone 12 new case thread here on MacRumors shows the importance of cases to consumers. Why wouldn't Apple compete in this market?

Apple has never released new cases for older iPhones than the current generation.Never will do.

They would have to also include the brown color to round out the shades of ‘70’s appliances. What’s funny is that colors like avocado green and harvest gold would look awesome on more modern appliances.

Okay, has anybody been constructive in the sarcasm? Let me try. For 50 bucks I can buy a skin, a complementary case which the skin snaps into. The case contains a belt clip, which includes a kickstand which works horizontally or vertically by twisting the belt click. When I have pockets, I can use the skin only, and it too contains a horizontal kickstand.

This is called WTO, Well Thought Out, and it's not an Apple product, it's a Best Buy brand. Time for Apple Design to step up with a SuperCase like this, for ten bucks less, which also features a Phaser for self-defense, and perhaps a pop-up nosehair plucker. Now that's value added.

Seriously, what's this about rubberized skins, sunflowers, clouds, and electric oranges? Holy cow, folks.

I bought 4 off brand silicon cases (less than 1 Apple silicon case) from AliExpress, that resembles Apple silicon cases, so I can’t be mad if these cases start falling apart. I bought them in the exact same colors, so one can tell if it’s real or not unless I tell them. To be honest, I’ve bought a couple cases from AliExpress, 4 cases from Caudabe (1 was free), and Spigen. I’m not buying anymore cases unless AliExpress come out with more colors to resemble Apple’s silicon cases.

I wish that Sunflower case was available for the SE. I loved my Sunflower case for the 7+. It’s very cheerful.

Hot new leak from Prosser states the entire case design and manufacturing team has not been reassigned to design and manufacture Apple silicon... or anything else for that matter. Turns out, it's not what they're actually good at doing. Seems their forte is designing and manufacturing cases.

And it took them years to figure out a way to wrap the leather case around all four edges, so they deserve a break for a few more years until the next big thing…

That’s because you didn’t live through it. There’s a reason the “white box modern” became a thing in the 80s.
