Apple today quietly released a new version of its 30W USB-C power adapter with the model number MY1W2AM/A. The outward design of the adapter has not changed, so if any tweaks have been made, they are likely internal. The previous model MR2A2LL/A is no longer available for purchase from Apple.

The power adapter remains compatible with any USB‑C–enabled device, with Apple continuing to recommend that it be paired with the 13-inch MacBook Air with a Retina display. The adapter can also be used to fast charge compatible iPhone and iPad Pro models. The new version remains priced at $49 on Apple's online store and ships within a few days.

Apple made a similar move in June 2018, when it quietly replaced its 29W power adapter with the original 30W version that was sold until this week.

Comparing their product shot to my MBP adapter, the ring of my USB-C port is chrome. This new one looks white.
FINALLY! 🤪

Probably some kind of tweak to make them more compatible with upcoming ARM laptops.
A charger has nothing to do with cpu type, it’s still 30w.
Either components have been changed inside for efficiency/new supply and or someone mentioned it could possibly just be a smaller sized adaptor now.

The chrome ring was gone on the previous 30w MR2A2LL/A (A1882) as well as the 61w A1947.

In short, that chrome ring has been gone for a while :)

iPhone 12 Pro and Max will support 30W charging. Mark my word.
iPhone 12 5.4” and 6.1” stay on 18W. Typical Apple.

ARM referenced to acknowledge overall (upcoming) platform update, not specifically CPU change. Even though it's "still 30w", Apple has been known to tweak USB-C protocols based on platform changes, i.e. original 29w vs. now-old 30w power adapters.

Yet the Ravpower is 90 watts, has two ports, and includes a USB C cable. All missing from the Apple product, for only $5 more. View attachment 940842

I have the 30w one... perfect size, use it to charge everything, MBA, iPhone, PBP, MagicMouse, even my shaver. Here’s compared to Apple’s 30w:

The obvious thing for Apple to do would be to hop on the GaN train and shrink the size right down (right now everyone selling GaN units compares the size to the Apple block). With the rumors that the iPhone 12 won't include a charging block they might have included a second USB port too so one plug would charge both a Mac and a phone/tablet.

This was my guess also. If I upgrade, I will definitely be testing ASAP.

Kinda on the expensive side for me, going Anker as well.
Yea already have the Anker 30W they gave me as a free replacement to the lower one that was not working properly.

Can you plug an iPhone which used 18 into a 30W without causes problems for your phone? Too many choices for us to have to figure out which to use

Does anybody actually buy these at this price? I just bought an Anker USB -C car charger no less with two ports a 30W and 18W for a lil more than half that price. AMAZING!
The value of the power modules is their efficiency when connected but not charging. You can save a lot by buying no brand power bricks, but they are more likely less efficient, and less protection, i.e. if the get wet etc.

Yes, I see your point. However, I am not speaking of a "no brand" product. I am speaking about Anker. A well known highly respected Co. with a well made product line. But I do agree with you on cheap no name stuff.
