Look, they have a variety of music at the show. I think that's the point. Nobody's expected to like all of it. I'm sure there's Katy Perry fans who don't care about some of the music you all think is good.

Realistically, it's probably the big names like Katy Perry with her many many fans who however misguided you may think they are, are subsidizing the other lesser-known acts who may be more talented but otherwise might not bring in enough money from the EP or whatever to pay for the whole month-long event.

Thanks for the condescending post...I'm quite aware that Katy Perry is more 'bankable' than The Pixies, thanks.

I was however referring to MacRumours story, not the video

Your point is null as they could've mentioned both...

Circuses, but no bread

The iTunes "Festival" is a bit of fluff, a sleight of hand to keep the crowds happy. I wish that this effort went into actually designing and producing products were innovative and worked wel instead. So I get the ”circuses," but where's the bread?

I went to the Gaga performance.

Not a Gaga fan really but an amazing performance. A truly talented woman.

The venue is amazingly personal. You feel so close to the action. Very Apple like I would say.

But so hooooooooot in there. Friend managed to get tickets to Justin Timberlake so very much looking forward to that.

Amazing concerts, amazing artists no matter what your taste.

Just watch what you like and stop moaning about acts you never had any intention of liking. It's such a waste of time and posts on here.

How generic.

Can't they think of more exciting and innovative entertainers. How generic of them, year after year, blah blah blah, blasé...... What a snore fest. *Snore*.

I feel way out of the loop. I don't know what this festival is (music obviously) but I dont' know where it's held, how to get tickets to it, or anything. I know of all of the major festival but this one somehow escapes me. Is it promoted heavily?

How do I get tickets to your original festival? Please send me a PM immediately.

I feel sorry for the younger generation who consider this a "music" festival. But that's the Simon Cowell curse of image first, talent later legacy he and the other 'moguls' peddled. Sigh....

Yeah, all the people in the video seem really sad. :( Your sorrow is very well placed. It's not like generation X has been saying inanity like this about generation Y for the entirety of human history.

Apple has the full concerts posted on iTunes - I watched both Paramore and Ellie Goulding...both were amazing and Ellie Goulding mentioned how absolutely hot in was in there like....7 times. You could tell the artists were absolutely drenched with sweat.

Yes, Apple used to 'Think Different'. But when it comes to music they champion the same landfill slop as the rest of the media.

Music was very important to Steve Jobs, he also recognized how personal musical taste was to people, he never judged people by their taste in music. So he accepted how important all music was to their respective fans. Other than accepting all music for what it is, how "different" can they be?

I'll give you a hint, if those artists are popular, it's not because everyone else has no taste. ;)

You're either blind, or female. If neither, you're using the wrong sense. :D…..

He may need that spelled out, lol…….I never get tired of Katy or lady Gaga for that matter; the music is only part of the show. Two very original performers who set themselves apart from the crowd.

I say to Apple, bring that iTunes festival to North America next year, the birthplace of Apple!
And why not rotate the festival among thirty cities?

I highly recommend watching the Polica set. On a whim I checked them out and 45 minutes later I was buying their debut album on iTunes.

And now I'm going to travel 200 miles roundtrip to see them live.

Thanks Apple.

I also bought their album after seeing the performance, the dual drummers and soaring vocals contrast in a really intriguing way. But then I turned off sigur ros after 15 minutes of dull whining.

Fenech-solar were another band I'd never heard of, but gave a great performance that turned me from "meh" at the beginning to buying their album at the end!

It's good to have a mixture, to explore stuff you may not normally listen to. I was very impressed with Rizzle Kicks - I'd initially put them down as another bunch of idiot rappers, I wasn't expecting humour, intelligence, and talent.

I don't get out much, because I don't have any friends who like live music, and I hate standing next to sweaty strangers as my ears bleed from excessively loud music - so streaming concerts allow me to reconnect with music in a way I haven't since I was a teenager. Perhaps it's the intimate venue, perhaps it's the camera work, perhaps it's the lack of presenters, but I much prefer the iTunes festival to the TV coverage of Glastonbury and the like.

If it's folly to be wise then I have created such. However, ignorance is indeed bliss and if it's best not to know what preceded the dross now "offered " then I strongly suggest you never look back at what was.

The only folly you've made is generalizing an entire generation's taste in and works of music. It's hard to be ignorant of the past when you can look almost any aspect of it up in seconds; we've looked back at what was and are still happy with what is.

WE? Sounds like you're doing the very same thing you're accusing me of!

And your last line sounds like something Doc Brown would've said in BAck To The Future ...

Marty McFly: Hey, Doc. You'd better back up, we won't have enough decent original songs after 1990 to supply these Apple iPods in 2013.
Dr. Emmett Brown: Songs? Where we going we don't need songs .

Where did I criticize anybody's taste in music? Or imply I felt sorry because of what they enjoy listening to? That's what I accused you of.

Damn it, now I'm tempted to rotoscope an iPod into BTTF scenes. Hey, Google images got me close enough:

Is there a reason Katy Perry's show isn't available on the iTunes festival app or on Apple TV?

Yes, Apple used to 'Think Different'. But when it comes to music they champion the same landfill slop as the rest of the media.

They USED to LOVE music. I mean, REALLY love it. They brought in Wynton Marsalis and his quartet to play at the iPod fall festival in 2005. Yes, WYNTON MARSALIS, the God of postmodern bebop.

Now they've somehow devolved into getting morons who strip for money like Perry, GaGa, and even Thicke.

What the hell happened?
