lion recovery update

Doing all the updates today but why is this update so big? 1.24GB

Screen Shot 2011-10-12 at 23.57.06.png

Also tried iOS 5 updates about 5 times still no luck.

Im sure it will be worth the hassle.

Crazy Update Day!!!

It is a crazy update day!!! The only problem with that is currently, the Lion Recovery Update is going to take 8 hours on my 20Mbps connection (949MB)! That type of file would usually only take about 20 minutes max. I think Apple's servers are a bit saturated.

I went to an Apple store and did the download there. (Downloaded both iOS 5.0 and Lion 10.7.2) I know better. :) I also followed the direct download links here.

Didn't take me long to download and upgrade at all.

Since my iPad is already running iOS 5.0 GM and JBed, nothing needs to be done there.

A smooth and happy day here! :D

Here's a glitch for you....I decided to redownload from the App store 10.7.2. It doesn't show up in previous purchases. So I have to go via the page and it tells me I already bought it so it's free. Starts to download. I get 99% of the way done and it suddenly stops. Starts over and gives me a kernal panic. Guess that's God's way of telling me "Don't bother with 10.7.2 it's not going to fix your Wi-Fi. Stay with 10.6.8."

See my post above yours.

Two suggestions:

1. Use direct download links--they are in this thread. When I chose "Software Update," it gave me the corrupted download error. The dl had barely started--it was like 164KB, it was already corrupted!:roll eyes:

2. Go to an Apple store, or any where that has an OBSCENELY high speed WiFi network.

HTH

Problem is I reverted back to 10.6.8 so the only way to download is....via the App Store at the moment. And there is no Apple store where I live within driving distance.

So anybody try it out yet? any improvements? I hope they fixed some of the stability issues i've been having that occured after leaving 10.6.8

Just curious - after you login to your Mac right after the update, does System Preferences open up automatically and show you the iCloud pane with username/password?

Is there a combo update for Lion Recovery? I keep getting connection errors from Software Update. :(
I can get 10.7.2 successfully though.

Yes. I did not know that. I launched Mail; it was beach balling like crazy, and I thought there was something wrong with the update. Later, when I closed Mail, I saw the iCloud sign up pane, and realised what had caused the beach balling.

The updates today--iOS 5.0 and Lion 10.7.2--are so far, so good.

My system ( late 2011 mba 13 with 256 gb sad ) is all updated and everything just peachy.

I had been rolling with 11c73 ... used 11c73 reversioner and put in combo update now up on 11c74 ) ... then did the recovery update ... then photo 9.2.

I used some bandwidth from work and downloaded stuff individually then moved over to my mba using usb stick.

Smooth install of everything for me!

Improved contact syncing with Google, but...

(During my activation of iCloud, I was informed that) I can't sync Contacts with both Google and iCloud. It's one or the other. Pick.

Inasmuch as Gmail is my mail provider, I decided to forego iCloud Contact syncing and stick with Gmail Contact syncing.

Updated iMac, iPhone, mobileme to iCloud, all fine and dandy but still no dropbox-like or evernote capabilities...meeeh

Download to 10.7.2 is taking forever. I have 306mb downloaded of 435mb and it goes from 2 to 5 hours depending on download speed. This is ridiculous. My download typically is 25mb/s.

Thanks, just two questions:

1) The iCloud sign up pane from System Preferences was open behind all your other windows, including Mail?

2) Why would System Preferences make you get a beach ball?

I keep getting a message saying check your email address for information on how to verify your account. I have not been able to get to icloud all day because I am not getting the email. Ive checked spam, spelling of the email....everything....

Anyone else having this issue?

Hey all,

Just got home from work and was trying to download all the updates.

For some reason, when I run Software Update, it says that all my software is up-to-date, i.e. there is nothing to download.

Not sure why it's doing this, as I'm currently at 10.7.1 and haven't downloaded anything today.

I'd really like to get all my updates via SU to make sure I have everything.

Any ideas? Could it be due to Apple's servers still being overloaded?

*EDIT*: Okay, now it works. Not sure what happened there. Man, this is gonna be a long night! :)

1. Yes.

2. Multiple programs/apps--two, at least, Mail and iCloud sign in window-- running simultaneously. I have the stock HD on a mid-2010 13" MBP, not SSD. When I rebooted later and launched Mail, no more beach balling. It was a one-time thing, so to speak.

Dude, read through this thread. Use the direct dl links. They are faster. Those links are on Page 8 of this thread.

Really, no iCloud in the Finder? How hard could that have been?

Documents in the Cloud looks nice, but not very useful atm. I'll stick with Dropbox.

What about your boot and shut down times after the 10.7.2 update? My boot time has doubled from 25 secs to 50. And shut down yesterday evening was 15 seconds from previously 5

New release of iOS is great but how in the heck can we get rid of the Newstand icon!?!?!?! I bet there are tons of people who do not need this. Its like the crackhead guy who comes to your house selling magazines you don`t need living in your pocket.
