Before, emails with exchange would not send right away. Maybe 30 seconds to a minute after sending. Now they send instantly.

Some improvement but the mail app has always had one issue or another. Don't know why theres constantly issues.

I was unable to archive or delete messages from my gmail account, Whenever I did they would just re-appear in my inbox. hopefully this fixes that.

Have you logged into Gmail and changed its settings? A lot of people don't and mail clients (OS X, Windows, mobile OS's) don't reflect on Google's servers. Many (not saying you) people don't modify the settings so that Google's servers handle the changes, by default deleted mail stays on their systems unless changed, or is archived. This creates years of emails that don't show unless the user reconfigures their mail client or logs in via a web browser.

In Settings make sure the following is checked:

1. Status: POP is enabled for all mail that has arrived since ....

2. When messages are accessed with POP "delete Gmail's copy"

IMAP Access:
Status: Enable IMAP

When I mark a message in IMAP as deleted:
● Auto-Expunge off - Wait for the client to update the server.

When a message is marked as deleted and expunged from the last visible IMAP folder:

● Immediately delete the message forever

This is crucial in maintaining your Gmail accounts across various platforms.

Get a life

Excuse me? I've been using Macs for over 20 years. Yosemite's UI design is far below the standard that Apple has set for itself over the years. I'm not sure why they are changing to this "elegant, bright look", but it is a big step backwards in terms of a comfortable usable interface. The new Finder icon alone is a glaring example of just how far off-course they have veered from years past. There's plenty of other examples that I could present as evidence, if you need more.

----------

This 20MB update took over 20 minutes to install. I sure am not happy with how the Software Update mechanism inside the App Store app works. I preferred the older standalone application.

Its horrible UI design is a giant bug that needs to be squashed.

So this little post prompted me to finally go and look at some screen shots.

OUCH!!!

Yosemite gives me a huge headache!!! I'm serious. For some reason it felt like looking at an old Orange/Green screen low resolution monitor from the 80's. Does anyone else get this and know what I'm talking about?

I have no idea why it was doing that to me? Maybe the fonts or something?

When I saw Yosemite for a first time at a keynote, all I was thinking, was jumping on a beta ship immediately, and it was the first time that I decided to run an OS X beta version or any OS beta version for that matter, Yosemite's new design was/is that cool to me.:)

IMHO Yosemite has a far more elegant look than all previous versions; I can't even go back to Mavericks since I first used Yosemite.

But if the new finder icon is such a hindrance for you work I don't know what you're doing.

The font is way too condensed. There's no reason to do that, it's neither nicer nor easier to read, on the contrary. For example, in Bookmarks "k" and "m" touch each other. Then I switch back to Mavericks, and oh, again some readable text. Totally absurd to make it that condensed.

Hope if fixes the memory runaway problem. Several times it has eaten up all of my memory. Activity Monitor was showing 64GB in use for Mail. It has happen more since DP8. Fingers crossed.
Not fixed yet. Just happened again after fix applied.

Bummer, I really want to make calls from my phone on my computer so I can ditch using Google Hangouts! People don't answer the phone because their caller ID gives them a weird number. I work in an office with fairly poor reception for phone calls btw.

You should be able to make calls on your Mac now via your phone, if you are running Yosemite and iOS 8.

Just one more indication OS X Yosemite will have less bugs compared to other releases when it is set free to the public.

I wouldn't get too excited. I can't believe I just read that they've just fixed an issue for Mail that "could prevent users from composing a message".

How was that even able to sneak through this late into development? Right now it should all be about adding some spit and polish, not patching & fixing major significant issues like sending an e-mail!

Same thing happening with me. I've submitted a bug report to Apple. Seems to be an issue only effecting a few people, so it's got to be a very specific change to code they made. I jumped over to using Unibox for now - which itself is still eating a bunch of memory, but at least it's not spiking and killing the app.

I accidentally clicked on Sent mail and haven't been able to launch Mail since.

This update had better fix THAT.

Wow, this is the first time I've ever seen a core app (minus iTunes and Safari) being updated separately in Software Update.

Which means that theoretically Apple could update Mail for earlier OSX versions like Mavericks and Mountain Lion, but they just don't want to, in order to force us to upgrade OSX and potentially have to buy new Macs. This is the sad fact, and this Mail update just goes to prove that.

----------

this OS may just force a hardware upgrade for me. My 2009 machine isn't doing that much better on the latest version... LOTS of fan noise, slowness, and I think it either comes down to use of a Core2Duo processor, and/or slower 7200 RPM drive.

This is Apple's intention.

Cool story bro. Is the evidence a note from your mother?

Everyone sees change differently

Sorry, but I like the new UI much better than Mavericks. To me it has better contrast and more simplicity to find icons quickly.

Change is Change you either move with it or you stay in the past.
