Exactly! How dare Apple murdering and chopping the head of those poor cows to harvest their leathers. Can't they just buy leather from other stores in China? People need to learn that we can get chicken from Walmart nowadays, instead if killing them. SMH...Apple likes to tout itself as an environmentally conscious company. I really wish they'd stop selling leather products then. The raising & slaughtering of cows for iPhone & ipad covers is the antithesis of environmentally conscious.

Totally understand where you are coming from here. The thing is though, a lot of people don't care about that sort of thing and thus Apple unless confronted about it will continue to make them this way. I think down the line they'll end up changing because that's what they do. They'll put their own angle on it but ultimately a change will occur. Have to always keep in mind there's two sides to every story.. one person wants a leather case.. one person doesn't.. I am buying it because I support Project Red. Aids has affected me in a very personal way and therefore any little amount of money that goes to help find a cure or be more preventative is a win in my book. My experience of the product red leather case for the iPhone 6 was it looked tatty after a couple of months. I bought an apple plastic one for my 6s and so far not a mark on it.I waited a month before buying a black leather case but I've always had Product(RED) Apple products. Really bummed it took them this long. $45 spending again on another case after just getting a black one is wasteful. Really a shame this wasn't available at launch.
Same thing with (RED) Apple Watch band which I begrudgingly bought to replace my black band.
They're not the same size/shape. These are specifically designed to fit the 6S and 6S+
The difference in thickness (both 6 to 6s and 6 plus to 6s plus) is two tenths of a millimeter. That's less than 8 thousandths of an inch. If you're used to fractional inches (1/8ths, 1/16ths, etc), this comes out to a little less than 1/128th of an inch. Basically, if you were handed both and not told they were different thicknesses, you'd never know.I didn't know that they weren't the same size as the earlier 6's...
An official (PRODUCT)RED version of Apple's leather case for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus has been spotted in at least one Apple retail store today, as reported by French tech site iGeneration [Google Translate]. When the new line of iPhones debuted in September, only the silicone case was offered in a (PRODUCT)RED option.

The (PRODUCT)RED leather case for the iPhone 6s hasn't appeared yet on Apple's online store, but will most likely soon follow if the company keeps slowly rolling out the case to its retail locations around the country. When it does, it'll no doubt come in at the same price of the other leather cases sold by Apple, costing $45 for the iPhone 6s version and $49 for the iPhone 6s Plus version.

A portion of sales from Apple's entire (PRODUCT)RED lineup goes to the Global Fund to help fund AIDS programs in Africa. Most recently, the company introduced (PRODUCT)RED accessories for the Apple Watch, debuting a new collection and band in the bright red color option during its September "Hey Siri" media event.
Update: The (PRODUCT)RED leather cases for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are now available to purchase on Apple's online store.

You can't see the wear on the black case. The red case is pretty dreadful really.I've been using a black leather 6 Plus case on my 6s Plus and it fits just fine. Not sure what's the difference.
It's not harmful to animals, it's just fatal to those that donate their skins. The red case has been out for at least a couple months, because my 6s Plus has had one since I got it a couple months ago. Also, the people whining about the leather cases being harmful to animals... It's synthetic leather.

I'm pretty sure the cases are the same size? They're compatible with both the 6S and 6.
The iPhones are only fractions of millimetres different, so I presume they wouldn't bother producing brand new cases.
I could be wrong.
Yeah because there is a farm somewhere only raising cows for iPhone/pad covers.... FFS some people.Apple likes to tout itself as an environmentally conscious company. Wait, you mean to tell me these particular cows are grown just for their hide? And on top of that just for iPhone cases?!? So the meat just gets thrown away?? Those bastards!!!Apple likes to tout itself as an environmentally conscious company. I really wish they'd stop selling leather products then. Where did you get that Apple uses synthetic leather? The red case has been out for at least a couple months, because my 6s Plus has had one since I got it a couple months ago. Also, the people whining about the leather cases being harmful to animals... It's synthetic leather.
Have pics of the case? Link to the store? Genuinely interested.Unlike the essentially perfect design of the 5s cases, these still do not protect the edges all the way around. I finally found a third party leather case that does.
Apple had a perfect design, then messed it up.
I've had my leather case on my 6+ since February and there are NO scratches or any dents to the open ended bottom. I would not use my buying on what you think the case will not protect. It protects just fine.Unlike the essentially perfect design of the 5s cases, these still do not protect the edges all the way around. I finally found a third party leather case that does.

They had to do this to fit in the 3D Touch technologyThey're not the same size/shape. These are specifically designed to fit the 6S and 6S+
Why Apple made the 6S a very slightly different size is beyond me...

A few mms difference does make a different.Yes, casing for the 6/+ can be used for the 6s/+, but the new case is specifically designed for 6s/+ and Apple "must" make it to cover the phone comfortably. The keyword here is "comfortably".
I used my old case (6) for 6s, while it works, it's a little bit too tight.
You wouldn't be able to tell the difference in size, 0.1mm is about the thickness of a piece of paper. It's nothing and you're surely experiencing a placebo effect. The extra weight may be noticeable, but not the size.Anyone else like the feel of the new thicker iPhones more than last years model? Just me?
