Never. They dont have any reason too, and F4M works just fine.

Except for streaming video at higher than 1.0X speeds. F4M is fine for progressive download though. Streaming at the higher speeds though is impossible on the Mac. (Though VLC can do it but not without chipmunks).

I had a small issue. Everything downloaded and installed ok but then - right before automatic restart - it got stuck. There was the default Leopard wallpaper and the spinning wheel but nothing happened at all for about 10 minutes so I had to press ON/OFF button for few seconds and then turn it on again. Fortunately, everething seems to be ok now.

And this is why I always go for Lossless compression.

Oh really? You decided to use lossless because you knew that there was something in AAC encoding that Apple needed to fix?

So now that they've fixed it, will you start using AAC instead? Because that's what it sounds like you just said.

I don't see any point in paying for QuickTime Pro.

Saving quicktime files embedded in web pages is MUCH easier. Yeah, there are ways around it without 'pro' but being able to right-click and save is worth the $30 to me.

I just installed it. It doesn't look like they've added GPU decoding. My processor usage when playing trailers from Apple's site before and after installing the update is very similar.

I have an early 2008 Macbook Pro.

Just to save an embedded webclip, you'd happily pay $30 to get the Pro version?

Not a web-clip. An actual quicktime movie.

Go watch any of these trailers:

Want to save one to your desktop? How would YOU do it? I can do it in 2 seconds. I can get around that without Quicktime Pro, but it takes time and is a pain. Yes, I would pay $30 just to avoid that.

I understand your point, but I don't agree with paying just to save a movie.

Can someone confirm this won't break the 7.5 Pro key I bought just a couple months ago?

QuickTime X.

Particularly since they're now up to revision 7.6, I increasingly expect that they'll incriment the QT revision counter (to 8 or X) when Snow Leopard ships.

Which is all pretty much why I'm skipping buying QT Pro 7 ... I haven't needed it again until recently, but I had gotten burned by buying 6 Pro just before 7 came out...and Apple isn't great about letting you choose to keep older versions of their software installed.

As such, I'm not about to pay $30 for an application that's probably going to be superceded in <6 months and due to how Apple does its upgrades, removed from my HD.

Photo Booth

I now get a crash in Photo Booth when trying to advance to a different effects pane. Does anyone else have this happen? I used to have Photo Booth crash when skimming through saved photo's and videos and stopping at a video would unexpectedly quit the application. That problem seems to be resolved now.

When will they be able to .wmv without Flip4Mac?
Perhaps that new Quicktime X player will do it.

I would like to see the .wmv file format die. The delay is terrible with opening files. It is like the old .rm format from Real as far as I am concerned. I am so happy Apple got behind MPEG-4. The format is even friendly with Linux users otherwise they will still embracing MPEG-1 files.

damn it

does this mean i have to re-rip my whole library? i wish i could do lossless.... but then my library wont fit on my iPhone, even though i sprung for the 16. dang it!

I have no problem when paging through the effects.

I had a slight issue with this update. I installed this update, which then automatically restarted my computer. It rebooted and everything loaded as normal. Then I opened Safari, Mail, and iTunes and all crashed instantly. I tried again numerous times and same result. I tried opening up Disk Utility to repair permissions/verify the disk and that also crashed. I was about to dig up my Leopard install disc, but I wanted to try just restarting it. I did and now obviously everything works. I started to freak for a second. It must've just been a caching issue? Maybe for some reason my computer didn't restart a second time and it was supposed to?

same thing it has happened twice in the past 10 minutes after 2 restarts. the keyboard and trackpad stopped working then the screen flickerd, i plugged in a usb mouse and it worked but my wifi would not turn back on till i restarted. is there anyway to downgrade?

EDIT its happening again. like clockwork 30 seconds after i unplug my mouse the screen flickers and i cant use wifi, but my keyboard still works?? this sucks
