Apple today seeded a new version of the second beta of iOS and iPadOS 15 to developers for testing purposes, with the new software coming just a week after Apple released the initial second betas.

Registered developers can download the profile for the iOS and iPadOS betas from the Apple Developer Center, and once the profile is installed, beta updates will be available over the air.

The new iOS and iPadOS 15 beta updates are labeled as beta 2 and are available to developers who previously installed the second beta. It is not clear why Apple has released an updated version of the software, but it may fix critical bugs. The new beta has a build number of 19A5281j, up from the original build number of 19A5281h.

Nobody can answer that with any certainty but it likely doesn't reset the clock. This was probably a patch for a critical issue. I'd still expect beta 3 next week personally.
Yeah, regression testing and developer feedback probably found something, they had a team quickly focus on and fix that issue while the rest of the team was working on the next full release that will be released at the end of the sprint as normal.

Has to be something substantial that this one is a full 5.3GB rather than the smaller couple hundred MB that the previous one was. Seems it's meant to replace the entire iOS version, rather than just update the existing.

I think it added a Fitness app to my home screen.
The first and second* betas did that to me too. I delete it as I'm very lazy I've not got a watch.

* Apple's first attempt at a second beta, before releasing this new 5GB one with no release notes, same main beta version, and silence as to what it contains.

The most important question of all questions, does it fix green tint? 😅
