Everyone!!! I found it!!! Go to "View" then click on "Show Bookmarks Bar." The "+" is on the very right to open a new webpage...whew!

I think this should be "Show Tab Bar" rather than "Show Bookmarks Bar". The "+" is at the far right of the Tab Bar.

i was annoyed with the tabs on top, none of my friends found it and it's too high up there to switch tabs with the mouse on big screens.

What I don't get about this whole tab on top vs bottom debate is there really is a way to get a consensus. If tabs on top is the only option that will annoy a lot of people. If tabs on the bottom is the only option that too will annoy a lot of people. Give people the option one way or the other, all but the most stubborn are happy.

Hello guys,
I'm new here so please I beg your mercy :p
I dont know if this is a 100% rumor , but as it seems Safari 4 (or rather Apple) makes fun of Windows 7.

If you roll over the preview little windows of Safari in Win 7, you get a weird result.

I'd like everyone to check for it, too... So we can be sure if its a joke or not.

The "joke" looks as follows:

I can't seem to get this to work.

If I download the beta disk image and mount it, I have two packages to look at, Safari4.0BetaSecUpdateLep.pkg, and Safari4.0BetaUninstall.pkg

Extract "Payload" to the desktop, then bring it back into Pacifist. Safari.app is in there.

Netshare

Has anyone tried using iPhone Netshare with the new Safari? Does it still work?

Nothing has changed about my ridiculously minor pet peeve (look at the attached picture to see if you can spot it - hint: concentrate on the toolbar). :p

A note to the people who miss the blue progress bar:
In the realm of designing interactive systems it's usually only considered a good idea to offer progress bars if the following holds true:
(1) The waiting time is greater than the typical attention span
(2) you are actually able to approximate the total amount of time it will take to complete the operation and therefore provide information on how much longer the user has to wait.

Requirement (2) is unfortunately often not a given when you're loading a webpage, especially if (1) is a given. The progress bar might take 5 seconds to fill up 75% of the way and then hang there for minutes. In such cases the spinning indicator is more appropriate.

downloaded it last night, just opened it to see whats new lol, not much has changed, like the top sites look, but it's reminding me of chrome, just with a different layout, like how it changes to each site, but it seems slower then firefox, works about the same speed as me firefox, so, dont think i'll be using it much, no adblocker :(

I get no ads on Safari. Even ads on the websites don't show up in Safari for me, it is awesome.

I've been using it the past couple of days in windows, it's way faster than FF3, think i'll stick with it at least until FF3.5 is out.

The one reason i prefer Safari is the fonts, makes pages look a lot nicer than FF. Don't like having new windows open though, would prefer everything in tabs.

Only other issue is ads, im assuming there's still no adblock for windows?

Edit: Just found this doesnt block everything but better than nothing. :)

I don't use anything at all, and absolutely NO ads show up. Not even those Google Adsense ads.

I don't like that they changed the blue borders on the Top Sites screen in the final release. In the beta it drew an awesome glowing blue border around the site when you hovered over it; now, it's a dull, nothing-special, slate blue border. I want my glow back, but enjoy the snappiness of the new release too much to use Time Machine to regain my top-tabs and glowy borders. Oh well, Apple giveth and Apple taketh away.

Bingo! Got the beta back, got the small title font and tabs on top!

The thing is, the extra screen real estate provided by tabs on top is really quite significant. Switching back to the beta right now, I noticed it and appreciated it instantly.

dont forget to check if its easting your HDD space secretly!, you might lose up to 6GB+ disk space with safari 4 beta.

3 reasons:
1. My systems are rock solid under 10.5.6 and there's nothing I particularly need in 10.5.7.
2. Lots of reports of people experiencing various problems after updating, and Apple is now reported to be working on numerous bugs for 10.5.8.
3. I don't go crazy over installing every OS update; I usually wait until there's a particular reason to change.

So what will change with 10.5.8? They've been working on bugs in 10.5.7 also... :/

Apple introduced a lot of new code in 10.5.7. My impression is that 10.5.8 is fixing stuff that was added. ;)

Besides, 10.5.8 could be the last Leopard update and the last update ever for PPC, so Apple should be making a big push to fix as much as possible.

LoL that's an interesting one! Hadn't noticed that before I have to say, but I fully get why it irks you. Looks like the increase/decrease text size button is similarly afflicted. The back/forward button in Finder does it right, but it has its own issues, specifically in text only view ><. And apparently that's not fixed in SL :(.

What bollocks. You aren't paying attention when you surf or something is installed. OSX is secure, but it doesn't fliter adverts without a third party app.

I went back to Firefox almost immediately. I don't know where people are getting this idea that Safari is faster, it loads more quickly for me but thats it. It still has miserable tab handling (why doesn't it remember my old browsing session? Why do I keep having new windows open when I click a link even though I've told it to use tabs?).

There is no free download accelerator for Safari, only crap download managers wihch do little more than Safari's own. The final nail in Safari's coffin for me is that it makes flash jerky and unwatchable on my old processor. Firefox plays the same movies fine.
