Only weighs 7.4MB once you rim off languages. It's blistering fast too.

I don't know what everyone is talking about. 5.1 is a turd compared to 5.0.5 when conducting speed tests. 5.1 has many more features that I would like, but I'm more concerned about speed at this point.

There we go, finally shows in software update for me.

I like it, seems to bring about enough changes and improvements for it to warrant more than a .1 release, it could pass for Safari 6.0 imo, even for SL users. A solid upgrade.

Safari 5.1 EXTREMELY BUGGY

CAREFUL.... if you have some plugins (e.g. TastyApps' WebSnapper and/or Videobox buttons, ClickToFlash) or depend heavily on 3rd party extensions. this version of Safari kills the built-in functionality.... PLUS IT IS EXTREMELY BUGGY!!! for example - it has crashed for me 4 times in the past hour since I installed it, it becomes unresponsive, and for some reason, it does not allow me to open additional windows---- I have to restart it every time.

So, I'll switch to Firefox/Chrome while they sort it out, or until I feel ok to upgrade to Lion - perhaps then Safari will work as good as usual. I wont upgrade to Lion until I have some time to test all my work apps.

When viewing a topic like this and then swiping back to the main topic list, threads are not marked as read (like SL Safari), so have to keep refreshing

does the new update fix this

so is there a way to go fullscreen with this on SL or is that only for Lion?
If it is possible, how do you do it?

thanks! i just downloaded the update but i mainly did it because i read the thing about being able to go fullscreen. if this is possible, then it was all for nothing i guess.

No problems here. But as usual with Safari, it is nearly always plugins that cause it to crash anyway. It looks like you have quite a few....

And yes, it does genuinely feel faster!

I'm running 10.6.8 and just updated to iTunes 10.4. System Profiler is showing it as 64 bit.

System Profiler lists it as 64-bit because it contains 64-bit code. However, it'll only run in 32-bit mode unless you're on OS 10.7 (look in Activity Monitor while it's running).

Ahhhhh, when is safari going to ever work properly on windows. Perfect on my mac. Crashes daily on windows even though i tell that ***** OS to not to.

Safari used to crash 4 times a day on my Mac Book Pro.
I did a clean install of Lion and Safari hasn't crashed yet.
Looks like they finally figured it out.
I haven't even installed another browser yet. On Snow Leopard, I had Firefox and Chrome always ready to go.
