I got 2 kernel panic today using the default Safari, macOS 11.5.1 could be related since it happened while I was a specific video on youtube, switched to the STP and no kernel panic so far, haven't updated though.

Can someone explain how the quick notes feature work?. I have an Intel Mac and as you know for now, that feature is not working (yet). I am really curious but there are videos or photos about it!

I only want to know is there the ability to prevent auto play of video content when you visit any website?
Huh!? You mean other than this?

I still cant access my Orbi Pro router admin page, either by IP or orbilogin.net. When I try it just geets me into a untrusted site->visit site anyway->untrusted site loop. Works as expected in Chrome.

I really want to use Safari but no chromium engine kills it for me. I'm not saying you should use Chrome, just a chromium browser: Brave, Edge etc. Firefox is slow on some sites, while chromium browsers are fast. Also Chrome is not the battery enemy it used to be. Lots of improvements the last couple of months
Webkit is faster than Chromium

I am getting fed up with the dark mode on some sites but not on others. Looked and it seems to be the website that controls it, unless I'm mistaken?

Yes, and they usually have a button to toggle it off/on, sadly the dark mode need to be implemented by the site owner, I personally created my own CSS for dark mode for my favorite and frequently visited websites and for those who offer it as a premium feature like trakt.tv, if you know CSS you can edit the website syle using Stylus for Chromium-based browser, Firefox, and Cascadea for Safari. or look for stylesheet on Github, etc

Thanks for the confirmation, not too keen on trying to modify CSS, this old dog has problems with current tricks let alone trying to work on a new skill.

You can try the Dark Reader extension. It's a few dollars but works well. It's free on other browsers but I believe the dev charges because of the annual fee Apple charges to publish in the App Store.

I might have time to help, if you have a particular site that you absolutely need dark mode, I will be glad to look at it as long they are no restricted area where I cannot test the CSS because of lack of access I will edit and share the CSS so you can apply it using Cascadea which is also not free.

Thanks for the offer, its not too big a deal and I can live with some in dark mode so Thanks but I'll leave it alone.

Is anyone else having a problem with Command-click to open a link in a new tab using Safari Technology Preview build 129?

I like to use command-click to open links in a new tab. It's worked fine for prior builds. I just installed 129 and now when I control-click a link:
  • It opens the new tab in the background as expected
  • I can see the proper heading on the tab heading (in this case "Pal...")
  • I see the preview for the new tab
  • But when I click over to the tab it reloads as my start page instead of the new URL
  • Weirdly, if I choose to "Open in new window" on the link, it works correctly.

  • Screen-shot showing this (Macrumors forum) web page. The Command-click new tab preview on the tab to the right implies that the new tab will have my control-click page:

  • Result when I click on the new tab previewed above. It shows the correct URL and almost builds the page for a moment, then clears it all and shows my Start page instead of the chosen link.
