Anyone else having the issue where normal Safari loads pages fine, but the Tech Preview stalls when loading pages?
Yup same here which is now extra annoying as I have to use the TP as my daily driver since normal Safari is logging me out/clearing session cookies roughly once an hour making it impossible to use. Will be moving to Firefox now full time until this can be fixed

I have upgraded from 138 to 139 and loading any login page (Google or Microsoft) hangs. I deleted any folders containing SafariTechnologyPreview under ~/Library but it still hangs. Everything worked fine in 138. Basically I cannot login into my accounts. Using the usual Safari works
EDIT: after reinstalling SafariTechnologyPreview now even loading youtube hangs
Same issues here .. Tech Preview hangs loading pages, but "normal" Safari loads with no issues

It is part of Safari 15.4, so should be available with Monterey 12.3.

The scroll-behaviour: smooth is for when there is a link on the page that scrolls to a specific section of the page. Currently, it would directly "jump" there, where as with the smooth behaviour it will animate the scrolling. It does not relate to the scrolls performed by the user. It's a nice addition to Safari, but it's not such a big deal either.
While Safari 15.4 is part of the Monterey 12.3 Beta 1 it doesn't show 120hz. There also a few reporting that Safari isn't starting correctly with both STP and Safari installed.

Yes, it is using 120hz and also the scroll behaviour smooth that I was referring to has been also implemented, as expected.

New version hangs when loading a new webpage. It's the same on my Mac mini, MacBook Air Intel and M1 all running the latest macOS 12.2. I did not have this issue before the update.

Standard Safari has no issues. I've reinstalled Safari Tech Preview with no success on the issue.

STP is so... buggy. in v137 scrolling on Apple Magic Mouse2 does jumps straight to bottom. Now webpages won't load unless I reload manually. It seems like Apple did not use the new version before releasing it. I know it's beta but come on, this is basic stuff.

Just installed a .3 update that appears to be working better, Release 139 (Safari 15.4, WebKit 17613.1.14.41.3).
it looks like mine is... Release 139 (Safari 15.4, WebKit 16613.1.14.41.2). I'm on Big Sur, and i think that's why...or ?

I am on Monterey and was on .2 until this morning update showed up as available, maybe soon for Sur?

How does this affect scrolling behaviour?
Do you think this will be already included on the just released macOS 12.2, or we'll have to wait until 12.3?
Many websites have buttons like "scroll to top of document" and the like. In browsers that support it, you can specify that all scrolling is smooth and animated like when you tap on the tap bar in iPhone Safari. It's been supported in Chrome for years, just makes Mac Safari a slightly janky experience in some edge cases.

No, Apple almost never releases new features in Safari mid-cycle. They'll probably wait until MacOS 13.0.

It is part of macOS 12.3. "Almost almost never releases new features in Safari mid-cycle" is also not true anymore, we are already on the fourth point update and there's been changes both to Safari itself, as well as WebKit since the release of Safari 15 in October.

Tech Preview is 140 is available. Updated on my Mac mini but stalled when loading sites while the previous 139 worked fine.

I think I've got the same problem; I installed 140 and now it looks like my previous pages repeatedly try to load and then crash. I haven't tried started fresh yet.

There aren't any release notes for 140 yet, maybe it was pushed out by accident...

With the 140 update getting massive audio stutters in YouTube. but the scrolling experience is much smoother, especially if you turn off the "Prefer pages rendering near 60 fps" over the experimental features.
