Apple today released a new update for Safari Technology Preview, the experimental browser that was first introduced in March 2016. Apple designed Safari Technology Preview to allow users to test features that are planned for future release versions of the Safari browser.

Safari Technology Preview 238 includes fixes and updates for Animations, CSS, Editing, Forms, Networking, Rendering, Scrolling, SVG, Web API, Web Inspector, WebAssembly, and WebRTC.

The current Safari Technology Preview release is compatible with machines running macOS Sequoia and macOS Tahoe, the newest version of macOS.

The Safari Technology Preview update is available through the Software Update mechanism in System Preferences or System Settings to anyone who has downloaded the browser from Apple's website. Complete release notes for the update are available on the Safari Technology Preview website.

Apple's aim with Safari Technology Preview is to gather feedback from developers and users on its browser development process. Safari Technology Preview can run side-by-side with the existing Safari browser and while it is designed for developers, it does not require a developer account to download and use.

I wish they would spend time improving the UI. Steal a bunch of ideas from Arc.

At least have the stupid Gmail web icon update numbers as the inbox changes. It feels totally primitive that it doesn’t.

Still using Safari daily because of the Private Relay option.

But other browser as Chrome or Firefox, whenever I need to use them in the same Mac machine, seems way faster and more responsive.

Could you remind me where I can found the Private Relay setting? 🤔

I don't like to use Chrome and Firefox and Safari always worked to me but I've been having a lot of problems with Safari since release 26. These bugs only happen with full screen mode on external monitor:

- Some tabs just stop working showing an empty background. Refreshing doesn't work you need to type the address again.
- Putting a video on full screen and moving to the mail laptop screen doesn't adjust the aspect ratio of the window so controls are out of screen.
- Sometimes the ctrl+f search bar doesn't appear.

I wish that they would bring back the debug flag that would allow you to disable the background tab suspension. I work with over a dozen or so opened tabs spread out on a few Tab Groups, but putting my MacBook to sleep causes those tabs to get purged out of memory and are reloaded when I go back to them, and I end up losing my place in those tabs. It's not like my memory pressure is high or anything, it always stays in the green. I have 48 GB of RAM, lemme leverage that power!

Unfortunately I have to use a different web browser for my workflow due to Safari's oddly aggressive tab suspension behavior.
