Apple Releases Safari Technology Preview 30 With Bug Fixes and Feature Improvements

Apple today released a new update for Safari Technology Preview, the experimental browser Apple first introduced a year ago in March of 2016. Apple designed the Safari Technology Preview to test features that may be introduced into future release versions of Safari.

Safari Technology Preview release 30 includes fixes and improvements for Web API, JavaScript, CSS, Accessibility, Web Inspector, WebDriver, media, and rendering.

The Safari Technology Preview update is available through the Software Update mechanism in the Mac App Store to anyone who has downloaded the browser. Full release notes for the update are available on the Safari Technology Preview website.

Apple's aim with Safari Technology Preview is to gather feedback from developers and users on its browser development process. Safari Technology Preview can run side-by-side with the existing Safari browser and while designed for developers, it does not require a developer account to download.

They are periodically released in the normal Safari updates. For example Safari 10.1 includes a lot of the features that were in the technology preview.

Actually it went down to 416.

The difference in score with Chrome is due to all those extra data storage features Chrome needs to track you so that Google can watch your every move.

I uninstalled Chrome last time my MacBook Air was slowed to a crawl and Activity Monitor showed me some runaway Chrome process was murdering my CPU even though Chrome wasn't running. Maybe it was doing one if its shady self-updates or something -- whatever the case, I uninstalled it immediately.

In particular, Safari, in its current release, not the vaporware experimental version, Preview, is slow buggy and stupidly designed. Just bringing the program up yields a spinning beachball. Apple should focus on iOS and OS X and not bother feeding mediocre software teams that are probably really expensive, old, fat and tired.

They need to just stick with a single browser and focus on putting their most advanced features forward and just beta test it before release. Imagining 2 entire teams doing this stuff the way it is. Maybe not but it seems they could get more done in less time by just focusing on one branch. That's exactly my point. That Mac should run flawlessly. Have you ever ran CCleaner or Malwarebytes on it? If not I would suggest at least running a scan and clean with CCleaner

For me it feels like Safari is getting worse with every new version.

I first switched to Firefox Nightly, then to Chrome Canary, Opera Developer and finally Vivaldi Daily Snapshot Version.

On the iPhone I can't decide between iCab, Chrome and Puffin and still mostly use Safari.

Speak for your self, but I am happy that I can use a Apple browser and don't have to use anything from google unless I want to. You don't have to use it, but please leave a choice to other users. The current Safari version is just fine.

You definitely have something wrong. it should open quickly. Telling US your specs doesn't say anything useful. In fact, it shows that you don't understand matters.

There's something corrupted in the system. Unfortunately, if you update the OS, that corruption will follow along. The only solution is a complete uninstall of safari and all of its files. Save your bookmarks. Good luck with that.

A problem with Google is that, all too often, they release software without saying that it is beta, and it remains beta for the foreseeable future, until they discontinue it, which they do at a very high rate.
