Mine's not updating.

M1 MBP 13" running 15.0 PB trying to update iPhone 11 Pro via USB-C to Lightning. In case any of that matters.

I downloaded the .ipsw file and I'm trying to update via Finder because I don't have enough free storage on my iPhone to update via OTA.

Any suggestions? Anyone else having the issue? The MBP isn't showing an update available.

Going to update my M1 iPad Pro 11 now. I have the first PB 18 and like it a lot. Looking forward to see what this new PB has to offer. One thing I don't get, is why my iPhone 13PM will not get the AI features, when my older M1 iPad Pro will get all the new features.View attachment 2401089View attachment 2401088

Your older M1 Pro iPad is faster than the iPhone 13 Pro. And, more importantly, it comes with 8 (or 16) Gb RAM compared to 6 in your iPhone.

This is normal, as you will also need to install the latest Xcode beta or at least MobileDevices.pkg contained in it.

Step 1

Head over to this page first and sign-in with your Apple ID, that should also be enrolled into Beta programme:

Sign In - Apple

idmsa.apple.com
idmsa.apple.com

Once you log-in, you will see this page:

Here you can choose your beta and download it.

Step 2

Now go to the top of this page and click on “Applications” in the top-right menu. This will bring you to:

Download Xcode 16 beta 4 from here and install it.

Once Xcode 16 beta 4 is installed it will allow you to update with your previously downloaded IPSW file.

Good luck!

Thanks. I'll do that in a bit. I need to do something for work first.

I was doing it through Finder and holding Option while clicking update. That worked for the first public beta.

On this second one, it will start the update, ask if I want to share data with Apple, then it just stops and the iPhone disappears from Finder.

I was thinking of doing a backup and restore to see if I can free up some space but I need to get this working first.

Edit: It appears to be working this morning! Maybe they finally recovered from CrowdStrike.

Beware: Public beta 2 broke the Carplay screen controls in Google maps and Waze. Nothing happens when I try to zoom in-out, try to set a destination from the carplay screen, home/work/favourites also does not react.
They all worked flawlessly in Public beta 1.

iOS 18 Public Beta 2, installed today (iPhone 13, iPhone 15). I’m noticing that I now get full cellular bars at home where I only got 2 or 3 bars previously. I like this update!

Can anyone confirm whether they also have CarPlay issues with iOS 18 public beta 2? I don’t want to install the update from public beta 1 until I know CarPlay works.

All native apps work (e.g Apple Maps), the issue is only with Google maps and Waze, and I don't know on which side of the fence the problem is.

Has your service also improved, or just the bars?)
That is an interesting question, I hadn’t thought about it that way. I haven’t noticed any slowness.. but I also didn’t notice any slowness with 3 bars. I’ll have to keep tabs on this.

I was wondering :) You may recall, years ago  kinda got rid of the first bar.

No, it's the smallest bar that was removed. I get all bars on mine. But that obviously doesn't have anything to do with the actual quality of service you're getting :)

I didn’t know that, which was why I found your question interesting. My quality of service seems to be the same as before when I was only getting 2 or 3 bars. I won’t be worrying about the bars anymore. Thank you for that.

Great. Yes, surely something in iOS could effect your connection, but bars clearly won't :)
