I see, so if I just don't like something apple does I should just get out of the ecosystem instead of being critical of the products I like? Maybe you should not make dumb comments like that and actually contribute to a conversation. It's a monitor. Unless they are going to add full on appletv support to it or something like that, it shouldn't need software updates.
If you think monitors don’t get firmware updates, and it bothers you that Apple supports their hardware, yes. You don’t understand it well enough to appreciate it.

While true, the ASD isn't even just a monitor: it's also a speaker system, a camera, a hub, and a power distribution point all of which is software controlled. To your point -- with which I agree -- I'm glad the one and done days of software development are behind us. All code is buggy to some extent; being transparently field repairable with firmware updates is a boon.

I hope this update allows the monitors yo have stereo sound if you have two or more. 600mb + is a big update.

Good points. It’s also worth noting that Apple is famous for tightly integrating features across hardware and software, (handoff, universal control, etc…). As new hardware is introduced, I wouldn’t be surprised to see additional firmware updates across the board (including Apple displays).

A 640 MB update for a display?! The processor and onboard system play that much of a role? 😦
I’m going to wait for the Final release on the monitor. I have separate volume on my Mac for testing the Beta for the MacOS. But I don’t know how a ‘roll-back’ is possible on the Display firmware.
