I hope it adds Firewire.

I see this as becoming the new meme for use on MR, akin to "G5 Powerbooks tomorrow". Well done.

Anyway, does this update reiterate the fact that these new laptops are flawed from the beginning. I'm really wondering what I'm going to upgrade too in the future. If they update the 17" and keep its 3 USB ports (and Firewire) I'm in good luck otherwise I will try to buy a refurb.

But I hope they add the firewire back like they did with the first 15" MBP when that was left out as an option a few years ago.

No firewire in the update? Matte screen?

Does it include the one-finger gesture that I'm giving to Apple right now?

Heh, don't be like me and try to use Pacifist to extract the new trackpad drivers from this update to see if you can use them to enable 4-finger multitouch gestures for the Early 2008 MacBook Pro. You might just end up with a dead trackpad and keyboard after replacing the old kext.

Thankfully I have a bluetooth mouse and keyboard for just such emergencies, and I was savvy enough to hold onto the old driver rather than simply overwriting it, thereby making recovery fairly easy.

I fail at hacking.
