The tax code was already in place before Apple incorporated. If they didn't like it then don't incorporate. It's as simple as that.

To play the victim & point the finger of blame on the government is weak, pathetic & typical of the entitlement mentality.

If Apple play within the rules it's teh governments fault. Plain and simple.

"I want my spot at the trough" And you call me naive.

1. I'm happy for my government to tax and spend because I use the services they spend it on.

There are services that a government provides, and should provide that are worth the damage that they do to economic freedoms. Governments have long ago exceeded the scope of those services.

2. Big corporations should pay their fair share of taxes. Not a penny more, not a penny less, just their fair share. Don't see what's wrong with that.

And who determines what that "fair share" is? Because the laws have become so convoluted that it's nearly impossible to really know what a particular corporation pays. Apple is not breaking any law, and until a more fair and common sense system is put in place their "fair share" is what they pay now.

3. You obviously don't watch the news. In case you hadn't noticed the US and Europe are in a hole. Deep in debt with ordinary people hurting. They need the freaking money.

They're in the hole for the same reason that a family making $120K a year who has trouble making their mortgage is in the hole: They spend too much, and live beyond their means. Social services are all well and good, but they're not perpetual motion machines (in case you flunked science, perpetual motion is impossible).

You enjoy your tax and spend culture over there. I, personally would rather live in a society that constantly keeps government in check, and tries to make them accountable for their actions. Viewing bureaucrats and career politicians with a cynical eye is the only way to do this. I give much more credibility to anyone who actually produces wealth than to someone who only tries to redistribute it.

I think this conversation has run its course now so I will keep my comments brief:

1. The US has higher business taxes than the UK so your system ain't so hot buddy.

2. I run a business generating business taxes and a decent income for my employees who all also pay tax. I generate wealth. I feel very angry about big US corp's like Apple who have the money to set up immoral tax dodge schemes to shirk their social responsibilities in the UK.

3. I agree the fault lays with government. But you only get politicians to change things by shining a light on problems to the extent were they finally have to act and do something such as new laws to close down every single tax dodging slimeball loophole that Apple et al use. Make them ALL illegal.
