Ok so the public beta I am downloading, if I install this as a fresh install, will I just update when the final version is released, or do I need to reinstall the final all over again?
Apple says that public beta can be updated to the final release through App Store. No fresh install is needed.

Is it just me, or after my GM 3 update my dock is bright gray and I cannot increase the background transparency? It looks really ugly. Is there any way to adjust dock transparency..I nosed around and couldn't find anything.

I use Comcast Xfinity and have never had this problem.

Make a small 20GB partition. Install Yosemite on the partition and test. If the problems go away with connecting you know it's your install.

I have Comcast Xfinity too and the Feedback Assistant constantly knocks my router offline. I've reported the bug multiple times, but think about it...

If reporting the bug knocks you offline, how many times are you likely to report it since you lose everything each time? LOL

The bug occurs during the data collection cycle, not during the reporting. At first I though this bug is Comcast's fault and that the Feedback Assistant is being tagged as a file sharing server or something for stealing copyrighted material. But after diligently checking my connection I determined I get knocked offline BEFORE even sending the report, so it's definitely a Yosemite/Apple bug, not Comcast's fault.

Dude!! maybe it's time to do clean install. Do you notice how nobody is joining in on your rather odd collection of complaints. Perhaps it's you.

Who on God's green earth is going to want to do a clean install of Yosemite when it's publicly released? Only geeks and dorks here. Testing it in the REAL WORLD is the only way to find problems. But yes, I have multiple partitions. I have the ability to test Mavericks vs. Yosemite both clean install and upgrade install.

BUT NOBODY IS GOING TO DO A CLEAN INSTALL UPON RELEASE!
Who wants to lose all their data, email accounts, blah blah blah?

My problems are real problems on a Mac Pro used for motion picture editing. If they weren't real, Apple wouldn't have fixed a couple of them in Beta 5.

And please don't call me "dude" again until they release the sequel to "Dude Where's My Car."

… NOBODY IS GOING TO DO A CLEAN INSTALL UPON RELEASE! …

Without shouting … some people will choose to:
  1. backup with Time Machine
  2. erase and then perform a clean installation
  3. use Setup Assistant or Migration Assistant to regain selected data from the backup.

Curious what other users think about the overall performance. I've been using it on a 2013 15 inch MacBook Pro and it's been very smooth, but many on here have been complaining about it.

I uninstalled it after Public Beta three, can anyone comment on whether they've improved the systems overall legibility?

Yosemite, here on a 2014 rMBP is IMO the biggest release, since OS X itself. I love its looks and feel. A few quirks along the beta cycle but nothing wild, aside from wifi... But it appears that others were bug posting as heavily as I was and that those issues are moving in a great direction...

Performance wise, this version is the fastest I have experienced and I have been around macOS since 95.

Great Work Apple !!!

Also a Late 2013 MBP for me. Seems there might be a Finder issue there. It just happened to me again.

Do you find it happens when the Finder window is opened by another app, or through unarchiving?

Also, when I try to do a screen grab of the weird glitchy graphics, it comes out clean.

I've even had my pointer disappearing in a couple of apps.

All I can think is that it's an issue with one of the GPUs.

Not in any particular circumstance, sometimes just when I open finder. I can't do a screen grab either - its as if that part of the screen hasn't rendered. I reckon its a graphic driver issue. Next time it happens I'll take a picture on my phone.

I'm an app developer, I have dev access to the OS X beta forums on Apple dev and I can't see anyone else that has reported it, so I'll open a bug report tonight. I think though that maybe Yosemite hasn't installed properly, maybe a clean install will fix it.

I have noticed some problems when installing via a delta update, I have no clue as to why, and I have opened a few bug report in the dev center... I do notice tho, that when I do a full install that the OS seems bug free (major screw ups).

It is centered, it's just that the eye tries to center it on the hard drive icon, but the actual image area the text is centered to extends to the edge of the stethoscope.

Now lets have a big fight about it! Just to keep in the spirit of the thread of course....

Ahh, I always use rather dark wallpapers so I never even noticed the stethoscope!

Cheers for that.

I have a Developer account ( paid for ).

Seems as though someone has already used my redeem code :-( Won't let me download Yosmite.

You probably used it. It kicks in very quickly. Search for it in your "purchased" applications in the app store

I've never attempted to download it before.... like you said, its in my Purchases - dated today. The code must have been submitted again somehow.

Thanks.

No, I never used it. I've never attempted to download Yosemite before.

Looking just now at the Developer forums this is a common issue....

When you click the link "redeem" it takes you to itunes store. It asks you to enter code, but it already registered (dev account MUST match your iTunes account btw). Basically it redeems the same second you click the link.

So do you see it under purchases or not?

Maybe we're talking semantics here. To me a clean install is a CLEAN INSTALL.

When I switched from PowerPC to Intel, I did a REAL CLEAN INSTALL, which meant re-entering a lot of personal data and not installing many PowerPC only programs so as to not corrupt and bloat the system.

Yosemite still makes several programs non-functional like Final Cut Pro and Yahoo Messenger no matter how you update.

I've also had issues with my MAIL information getting corrupted even using Setup Assistant or Migration Assistant.

MAIL apparently doesn't like people with 10 email accounts!

See my updated post - which I updated almost immediately after posting the text you quoted.

Yes, it was how you described.

I had the window on response open too long. I hit submit way after you typed. Glad it worked :) Sorry for the dual posts.

Probably should hit refresh once in a while or not leave these windows open too long
