can't wait for macOS 13.5.

Then it all slows down for the next 2 years cause macOS 14 is gonna just be a bug fix party. and most likely Apple silicon only.
I think that 14 will still support some of the late Intel machines, but as we are getting closer to the finish of the Intel to ASi transition, I wouldn't be surprised if macOS 15 is ASi only.

The supported machines list will probably look like something similar to this:

I think that they would want to get rid of anything older than 9th gen Intel (given that Apple got rid of support for Skylake/6th gen Macs with Ventura, but kept Kaby Lake/7th gen even though the architecture is the same).

The iMac Pro will probably stay for now, similar to how the 5,1 Mac Pro (2010/2012) is supported on Mojave if you upgraded the GPU to one that supports Metal.

Support for the 12" MacBook will most likely be ditched. Great form-factor, but the CPU performance is horrendous compared to even older Macs.

The only problem I see with that list is the 2018 and 2020 mini are basically the same machine (except for a size bump for the SSD).

I was referring to the Late 2020 M1 mini there, but I forgot about the 2020 Intel mini.

Can't decide on whether the 2018/2020 Intel mini would be supported in 14. On one hand, it is now a ~4.5 year old machine and still uses 8th gen CPU's, but on the other hand they might get decent handful of outcry among these forums if they go M1-only. It has to happen at some point though. Think the G5 Quad. Fastest PPC Mac ever released. Came out in October 2005; Discontinued in August 2006; First OS release that didn't support it came out in August 2009.

I'm kind of meh on Ventura. I haven't seen anything new that would have me champing at the bit to install it on my work machine. Apple's penchant of breaking two things for every one thing they fix isn't instilling a lot of confidence in me.

I will see about using OCLP to install Ventura on my 2011 27 inch iMac just to see how that goes. Just used OCLP to install the latest Monterey and everything is good, despite a slight hiccup with Safari.
Runs buttery smooth on my 2015 MBP.

Quicktime is a joke.
QuickTime Pro 7, 10 yrs ago was light years ahead of this current QT mess.
Programs that constantly go backwards OR are made less intuitive is when Apple jumped the shark.
Its like the iPhone, not enough change or progress to justify a new phone every year except to pad the pockets of investors. Sad....

Yeah...no
The system preferences are so bad I thought I was in Windows environment.

How about you stick with making thing EASY for the users and not just change stuff for ***** and giggles there by making it demonstrably WORSE.

Yup, who ever thought it was a good idea to change the system settings into a half-baked, illogical copy of the iOS preferences should be taken out back and beaten severely about the head and shoulders.

Its about that age I will be no longer buying anything Mac at all.
I will be retiring in a few years, so what I have will be fine
I will be more interested in learning machining skills so I can make model stationary steam engines for a hobby

My Music application still crashes every time I open it (has on all the betas). It opens, a message pops up that it is ”Updating iCloud music library”, then crashes. I’ve submitted 20 bug reports, every time I try to open it and it crashes.

Anyone else having problems with the Music app?

On which Mac does it occurs?

On my new mini with the ASD, it doesn't crash, but I have several annoying issues with the Music app (come on Apple!!): the main window keeps resizing in a smaller state, when the Stage Manager is ON, and when I switch back to Music from other apps. I want my Music window to stay at all the vertical size of the display. The app window frequently resizes to the lower side of the screen (it's not systematic).

Also, with the Dark mode ON, I may have black bars drawn over some items in a long playlist, when I scroll the list. This aesthetical bug occurs very frequently when I drag an item in the playlist to the top or the bottom of the list.

To me, Ventura is a mess! The quality control has lowered at Apple.

Hardly, who was bugging me to test quicklook functionality on animated gifs yesterday instead of installing the 13.4 beta 3 for themselves to see if something was fixed? So don’t use Stage Manger with that Music App if the application sizing with a given developer is not perfect?

I don't trust betas, and I'm NOT a beta tester. I patiently wait for the official updates.

I don't have a choice to use Ventura with my mini, since it came with that OS. Or else, I would have downgraded to the previous OS. At least, Ventura doesn't crash on my mini (except QL on some files). But the whole OS seems like a very unfinished product, with too much glitches and "small" bugs. I hope the official updates will fix all of these bugs and glitches, but I bet they won't. I saw how Apple evolved over the years, and what kind of monstrous company it has become. I don't trust it anymore. To my eyes, Apple is the new Microsoft.

And I find it stupid to announce and create a whole new OS each year. They don't take time anymore at creating a good OS like back in the days of Steve Jobs.

At this point in time 13.x MacOS development betas are very stable. A lot of times things that are not resolved could be already resolved by a more recent seed release. Now pointing out issues with the public release in this 13.4 beta 3 topic is relevant? :D

I’m having trouble with Music on both a 27 inch iMac Intel and the 24 inch M1 iMac. Crashes on both computers.
