Between this and the 5GHz fix in 10.5.4, I'm hoping my wide-band n network finally becomes reliable without resorting back to g.

(The download link confused me at first. Don't bother--just download the update via AirPort Utility.)

I tried to apply the update two times already and I got the error that something went wrong.

The AEBS ist working normally though. What can I do? What is wrong? :(

Try hard resetting your device (that would get rid of all your settings, so you'll need to re-enter them) and then try.

This one caught me by surprise during setup. I just purchased a AEBS to replace an old UFO that became unreliable. I haven't connected a disk yet, but it has worked flawlessly. Big improvement over the G built-in to my Verizon supplied router that I was using as a stop gap.

Now I need to get a drive on it and join the emotional support group. ;)

I upgraded my AppleTV to Take 2 about the same time as I got a Time Capsule. I've had trouble with the AppleTV losing the network after 1-3 days of uptime. I don't know what else works, but unplugging and replugging fixes it, but it's awfully annoying to have to go to the living room to do that just so I can upload more TV shows.

Hopefully "bug fixes" means "won't drop your AppleTV so much". I'm really addicted to the N speed.

FINallY!! ...hope it works

Ugh.. Iwas about to fling my airport express 802.11n out the window. It kept dropping my connection. I had to get a new one (same problem out of the box) and was about to return it and get a linksys. This was the most frustrating apple product I've owned. Hopefully the update will make it work properly.

This update, FINALLY, allows you to use an XBox 360 Wireless Adapter with an 802.11n wifi network with WPA.

Thank you Apple, I was feeling short changed for my $100 Express. I could have bought a compatible Netgear or Linksys for $40. ...But... I'm a Mac Addict.

YES!! Finally halo 3 right from my bed

I downloaded this update along with the 10.5.4 update and now when I try to delete anything from the portable hard drive attached to Time Capsule via USB, I lose my wireless and have to reboot the Time Capsule to get everything working again.

I had problems with Time Capsule when I updated Leopard to 10.5.3 and now Apple appears to broken Time Capsule again. I'm disappointed because Apple hardware that I've bought in the past has never given me any grief up until now.

'It Just Works'™ Sorry Apple, it doesn't and it needs fixing.

Same here - my iMac and Time Capsule wireless connection drops all the time since the 10.5.3 upgrade. Apple Care told me to reboot (the guy just wanted me off the phone as it was nearly 6pm Pacific Time). The latest upgrades have not improved the dropped connections.

Has anyone noticed that the first time you do a backup after applying the update it takes a very long time?

Would you be able to use automator to create an applescript that images the drives i.e. looks for changes and uploads the info?

I'm sure you could come up with something like that using Automator, or you could use something like SuperDuper which does exactly that via it's SmartUpdate. Much more flexible (useful) than TM IMO. TM is a great idea, and it's nice how it suddenly got the masses to pay more attention to backing up, but there are better solutions out there. Maybe by the time Snow Leopard appears TM will get a much-needed update and a little more control over exactly what it does and how it does it.

Sadly, my external USB drive formatted as Mac OS Extended (journaled) still doesn't show up as a mountable volume. Airport Utility sees the drive connected, but it has no mountable volumes, which is several kinds of suck.

open terminal, cd to the root of the volume and type
touch .com.apple.timemachine.supported

Oh and while my backups will function again, it's not seeing the previous backups again. Thanks Apple, for failing miserably to support an announced function. :p

I'll try the update when I get home but does anyone know if the update stops the box requesting a DHCP lease every 90 seconds?

Cheers,

Garan.

airport express sucks

Didn't do the trick. it still drops the connection. I have to constantly reset it. This is my second express that I received under warranty. I hate it!

My Airport hasn't dropped out since I loaded this update. About time, I was getting really sick of having to fiddle with my internet connection to get the signal back up again.

Airdisk

My usb connected Maxtor drive only works for a short period , and then it just disapears altogether, when i then plug in and out the usb drive, it pops back up again, this way the airdisk is un usable.
Anybody have a suggestion how i might be able to fix it ?

Airport Express Firmware Update

Just received a message about a 7.3.2 firmware update for the Airport Express.

Anyone have info on the content of this update? I upated the firmware for the Airport Express when purchased in May, which resulted in a communication problem with my router (Trendnet TEW 452-BRP). I had to update the router firmware, which solved the communication problem however I'm hesitant to update the Airport Express to 7.3.2 unless it's vital. No problems with the Airport Express since router firmware update. Express used exclusively to stream iTune from iMac to component audio system.
