Apple today released a new update for tvOS, the operating system designed to run on the fourth-generation Apple TV. tvOS 10.0.1 comes one and a half months after the release of tvOS 10 and marks the first minor update to the new operating system. tvOS 10.0.1 has been in testing since September 21, with Apple having seeded four betas to developers before releasing it to the public.

The new tvOS 10.0.1 update can be downloaded over the air through the Settings app on the Apple TV by going to System --> Software Update. Those who have automatic software updates turned on will be upgraded to the new operating system automatically.

As a minor 10.x.x update, tvOS 10.0.1 focuses on performance improvements and bug fixes to address issues discovered since the release of tvOS 10. During the beta testing process, no major outward-facing changes or obvious bug fixes were discovered.

The tvOS 10.0.1 update does not include support for single sign-on, a feature that will allow Apple TV users to sign in once with their cable credentials to access all live cable content included in a cable subscription. Apple has said single sign-on will be introduced in a future update.

tvOS 10 brings improved search, expanded Siri capabilities, a new dark mode, a Continuity option for using the iPhone for text input, automatic download of universal apps, easy access to live TV, and more. For full details on what's new in tvOS 10, make sure to check out our tvOS 10 roundup.

I hope this fixes...not even fixes, ENABLES the keyboard continuity!

EDIT:

Still doesn't work :(

Have you tried reconnecting or reinstalling the app? I had issues before and after re-pairing to the Apple TV, it's been working great.

I have been having laggy swiping and random app crashing issues since tvOS 10.

I am hoping this fixes those issues.

Also, I noticed that extended use of the YouTube app tends to bring out all sorts of bugs and crashes on the home screen and other apps.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Btw, a restart seems to temporarily fix many of the bugs.

Any audio passthrough option yet?

I just bought a Roku at about half the cost of the ATV 4 and it's quickly becoming my go-to device. Unlike the ATV 4, it "just works."

Mine wasn't working at first either when I first updated to tvOS 10, but after a week or so it just started popping up on its own and it always has now ever since.

Also hopes it fixes the dark mode issue i have encountered.
Your specificity of the issue you've been having is remarkable, lol.

In all seriousness though, what issue have you been having in dark mode? I haven't had any issues that I'm aware of.

Ugh, still can't set any of my photo albums as a screensaver. Why have this as an option if it doesn't do anything?

Also hope it fixes the issue of the remote app on my phone (the new one) showing the Apple TV as offline when I first go to use it.

Other than this very stable for me. Still missing all of the catch up apps bar iPlayer though, but that's not apple's fault.

Try having your iPhone unlocked to the home screen before you swipe to a search field. It's works, but it's a bit spotty rt now. I think it doesn't recognize a connected iPhone when the phone is in sleep.

Thanks! :) but nope :( maybe it will just appear one day!

I use two different sign ins, can you sign into apps not supported by one cable provider with another cable provider?

Dark Mode enables itself. And when I ask Siri or go to settings it says it's off. I have to restart the ATV for it to go back to normal.

Thanks but it's not the app, it's the 'inbuilt' feature that was released. It should be a popup on iOS when you use a text input field

Yes, I knew what you were referring to. I had the same problem where the popup wasn't even appearing for me. What I tried to say was in my Apple TV app, I disconnected from my Apple TV and reconnected and it's been working since. Whether my phone is locked or unlocked, I get the notification to enter text.

Is anyone having issues with Disney Anywhere movies not showing in iTunes movies? My daughter is not to happy about it lol. And yes I have the accounts linked because I can see them in my iTunes on my Mac. And I can go to my account on both iTunes and Disney Anywhere and see they are connected. It is not all the movies just the ones that I used code from BluRay. The ones I bought digital to start are still there.

Only started with 10.0.1

My DMA movies still show up (they're all from the free code you get in BluRays). Maybe try relinking your iTunes account again to see if that makes them sync up again

I was going to say WTF is up w/dark mode, not really dark, more of a skittery brownish colour with white at top rhs, you may even say Zune brown!
But it took 3x restarts & switching to light, restart back to dark & restart to sort it, thankfully!:)
I see they haven't fixed it when opening an app, still white borders.:(
