Apple should incorporate motion controls somehow into the remote, maybe with a gyroscope and motion sensor.
It already has that? Did you mean for navigating the UI? If so, nope.

"Auto Update" has not installed a single tvOS update automatically on my Apple TV. I have always had to manually update through the system menu.
Auto update is for apps, not for OS updates.

New features that came up after my update to tvOS 10.2

Really happy with my 4th gen Apple TV especially with Plex but this update is next to nothing, scrolling is fine as it is.
[doublepost=1490655158][/doublepost]
Also, Plex will play the videos, although it uses the computer (server) processor to transcode the movie. HEVC support should be mandatory in 2017 tho.

If the powers that be want H.265 to be mandatory. They should rethink their ridiculous licensing demands.

The quick scrolling alone is worth it for me.

Now, what I'd like to see is a two-finger gesture to skip to the start/top and end/bottom.

And for them to fix the Aerial screen saver.

Set to Daily downloads, new ones still rarely came up.

Set to Never, and it still downloads new ones without asking.

Just let users pick the scenes they like, and be done with it, FFS.

So quick scrolling... I get the idea, but how do I go back to the items on the left side? In VLC I seem to get stuck on that scroll bar, and am unable to get back to my movies folder to select an item to play.... what am I missing??

Correct me if I'm wrong but it works on all the new Rokus, Amazon Fire, Nvidia Shield, Xiaomi TV box & PlayStation 4 Pro.

Remember H.265 license is for every device, not per manufacturer. Look at it from Apple's point of view. They look at the ATV as part of an ecosystem. So that means paying license for every iPhone, iPad, every MacBook/Pro, iMac, Mac mini, Macpro and ATV. With the volume of device Apple sells.... that would be ridiculous.

Auto update is for apps, not for OS updates.
According to this very article, "For those who have automatic software updates turned on, the Apple TV will be upgraded to tvOS 10.2 automatically."

Yeah, now that I’ve done the update myself that is indeed strange.

Even on the 3 it never updated automatically. But the apps do update automatically...... maybe that feature is for the apps and not the OS????

I have it turned on too and still had to update it manually. If apps were bought by someone not logged in to the ATV but is part of Family Share, also have to update those manually.

Anyone else noticing their ATV turning on by itself randomly? And with it any attached CEC devices?

Omg. Hbo go is finally showing up in up next and in the tv app!! Exciting update!!

That has happened to me on my atv 4. This worked for me - double click home button, swipe up on all open pages to close them.

Apple killed 3rd party Airplay streaming apps with tvOS 10.2: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7904345?start=0&tstart=0

If you are using Beamer app, Airfoil etc., do NOT update to tvOS 10.2 !
Looks like it is related to the extra security layer with the generated PIN. Already been solved for AirParrot, so I expect other developers to update their apps shortly as well.

The PIN is bloody annoying but. Had to keep running between rooms because it would change after some time?

The AppleTv really needs a backup to iCloud like any other iOS device.

After the update bricked my ATV (and forced me to buy an USB-C cable at Walgreens at 2am), it took me more than one hour to get my ATV back the way it was: I had to wait for every app to download to then set them up, and the whole thing is surprisingly very time consuming (Thanks partially to Comcast not supporting single sign on)

Furthermore I would think that restoring from an iCloud backup could be also useful when one is adding a second AppleTv in their home.
