Apple today released tvOS 13.2, the first major update to the tvOS 13 operating system that runs on the fourth and fifth-generation Apple TV models. tvOS 13.2 comes more than a month after the launch of tvOS 13.

?tvOS 13.2?, which is a free update, can be downloaded over the air through the Settings app on the ?Apple TV? by going to System -> Software Update. ?Apple TV? owners who have automatic software updates turned on will be upgraded to ?tvOS 13?.2 automatically.

We didn't find any new features in tvOS 13.2 during the beta testing period, making it unclear what's included in the update, but it likely focuses on bug fixes and performance improvements.

Details on the update will be provided through Apple's tvOS support document, but haven't been added just yet.

tvOS 13 was a major update introducing multi-user support, a Control Center, ocean-themed screensavers, and more. Details on tvOS 13 can be found in our tvOS 13 roundup.

Based on iOS notes the HomeKit extends to ATV as they are hubs: HomeKit Secure Video and Homekit enabled routers.

From homepod notes, maybe "Add music to your HomeKit scenes"

It's really strange that after EVERY tvOS update I have to reboot my AppleTV manually to fix a lag where the menu button would behave very unresponsively (it takes about a second to go back). After the reboot the lag is gone.

Also strange that after tvOS 13.2 the AppleTV just logged me in with the 2nd profile instead of my own.

Really hope tvOS 13.2 improves the performance because since tvOS 13 I notice some stuttering here and there whereas tvOS 12 was very smooth.

Please fix the buggy disaster that is the Apple TV app.

Large libraries don’t load. Riddled with ads for streaming services. Etc...
You have heard about "feedback"? You can send in specific information on bugs and even make recommendations for feature enhancements. I have actually seen some of my feedback make it into software. How does it work for you making generic complaints on a user forum?

Using an AppleTV 4k here, noticed none of those problems you indicated. 13.2 is very smooth so far

I hope this fixes the sleep issue that occurs when I stream audio-only material from my iPhone to the ATV4K.
maybe it's me, but "sleep issue" does not sound very descriptive. I haven't seen any problems, and it certainly doesn't go to sleep when I send audio to the ATV4k

I am not sure what is going on with the tvOS 13 and my ATV4k.

There just seems to be a lot of new minor bugs with it. Nothing major like the first year of tvOS, but just little things that wasn't on tvOS 12.

Examples:

Lag, especially with the touchpad while navigating. I am no stranger to lag on tvOS, especially on my ATV4, but this really has not been an issue with the ATV4K until tvOS 13.

Waking the ATV4k from sleep doesn't always turn on my TCL series 6 TV, and sometimes it wakes it, but doesn't switch to the HDMI 1 which my ATV is plugged into. Manually selecting HDMI works, except once, I had to unplug the ATV and plug it back in.

Lag within apps. This kind of goes with the touchpad lag, but it seems more to it that just lag with the Siri Remote. Everything just seems a little sluggish.

Strangely enough, my ATV4 on tvOS 13 seems to be running better than it has before, with the exception of AirPlay. AirPlay doesn't always want to work on it, but everything else seems better...

Another bug I have very frequently since tvOS 13 is that I don’t get the sound you’re supposed to get when moving through menus or apps on the home screen a lot of the time.

There aren't huge changes in tvOS but I will forever applaud Apple for making it so that only the menu button and not grazing the touchpad of the remote turns it on now. Most of the time I'd pick up the remote to move it and turn on the Apple TV. Not anymore.

Like what, exactly? I'm having issues where my stereo HomePods can be set as an audio destination, but if the ATV goes to sleep, the audio goes back to HDMI, yet the remote's volume button still acts like it's controlling the HomePods instead of the TV.

And the WWE Network won't even send audio to them anymore.

It’s great that you didn’t have any problems, but lots of other people did, including myself. I am hoping today’s release fixes the problem. Basically it seems like audio streaming would not “hold the gate open” as I refer to it causing the ATV to think you were not doing anything and thus go to sleep at the appointed timeout you have set.

Conversely, the new Spotify app holds the gate open endlessly and the ATV will never ever go to sleep even when you have stopped playing music.

So there is no balance for me and it has been rather frustrating to say the least. Going to go update right now and see if anything changes.

Videos will pause by themselves. It isn't a buffering issue, it is something else.

BTW, I don't know if this is a tvOS 13 issue or iOS13 issue.

Now that I am thinking about it, the issue happens when using my iPad Mini 2 on iOS 10.

Also, sometimes the video will stop playing after the iPhone screen locks from inactivity.

I’m getting random “no input” hdmi errors galore after today’s update.
The last several Apple updates (across devices) have been pretty bad. Didn’t use to be like this. Things just worked.

and you expect those issues to be solved by someone on this forum? Try submitting feedback to Apple instead.

I did a while ago, what now?
I have to humbly disagree with the previous poster. Submitting ‘Feedback’ to Apple is like screaming into the void.

AppleTV is probably the buggiest software I’m stuck using on a daily basis. I’ve submitted specific and reproducible bug reports to Apple, but they haven’t been fixed, even years later. (Try using Siri on HomePod to pause a movie, letting the screensaver begin, and then using Siri/HomePod to resume playback. The screensaver won’t stop, but the movie will start playing. It’s a bug that’s existed since day one.)

TvOS just gets worse and worse with each update. Tempted to go with the new Nvidia shield pro.

So I got official 13.2 on both my XS and iPad Pro despite having the Public beta profile installed. Didn't get a push on the Apple TV though.

The update restores the 5.1 sound to my Sonos system. It was just using a 2.1 signal for the last few weeks. I could manually change to the 5.1 setup but the 'auto' wasn't working. Other than that issue, 13.2 is working smoothly.
