Lots of apps and OS tweaks receive the generic update description of "general performance and stability improvements."“Apple does not provide detailed release notes for its tvOS updates“
This is unacceptable.
I am watching 4K Youtube for last couple days using tvOS 14.2 beta 2 with YouTube 2.05.01 on the ATV4k. Delete the app and reinstall it. tvOS 14.01 was also working.Still no 4K Youtube....
I remember some paid update where Apple added software to make my iPod touch 2G bluetooth hardware work. I think that was iOS 3.0.Ah yes. $5 to update my original iPod touch. Those were the days...
I can confirm that YT 4k is still not working on my 4K Apple TV. Latest TVOS 14.0.2, and latest YouTube app update. I tried this time with just a plain 4K video from Pro Art Inc (the nature videos) and still only plays at 1080p, not even an option to manually set to 4k quality. Beyond that, not a lot of problems with TVOS 14x for me. The only one I've had was Netflix playing in stereo, but they issued an update, and that's resolved now. So, at this point for me, it's just YT not playing in 4k. I probably shouldn't even bother worrying about that though because I have other devices it works just fine on, and they're just as quick and easy to use as the Apple TV.YouTube 4k still messed up

I’m hoping this resolves the constant AirPlay / BT issues I’ve been experiencing ever since iOS 14 came out, namely with AirPlaying YouTube from my phone to the Apple TV. YouTube has had plenty of updates, so I doubt it’s anything to do with the app.
It didn't work at first for me either if you recall, but I uninstalled the app, reinstalled same Youtube version and power cycled and came back 5 hours later to find it was now working in 4K, and it still has been every time I exercise the app. Use the beta agreement tactic and install the latest 14.2 beta, it's stable.I tried this on 14.0.1 and it did not work
tvOS 14.0.2, a free update
It seams like a staged rollout of 4k to apple tv from youtubes side, I've had tt for 1week+ now, but I also opted to go for the tvOS 14.2 beta so it might be more things in play hereYouTube 4k still messed up
Yes I know, and that should also not be allowed. Users want to know about bug fixes and new featuresd.Lots of apps and OS tweaks receive the generic update description of "general performance and stability improvements."
Go look at YouTube updates from Google if you want even less information.![]()
I thought the same thing as I was reading. Very unnecessary detailWhy does MR always refer to bug fixes as ‘free update’?

It's ridiculous that spatial audio feature on AirPods Pro cannot be used with Apple TV.
I get that gyroscope is required for head movement compensation, but not providing surround sound enhancement is just short sighted.

Many years ago, I filed a bug against a Microsoft product (Microsoft Macro Assembler). They verified the bug (it was a significant bug in the math coprocessor functionality) and said they'd let me know when the fix was ready.
About a year later, I was notified that the bug had been fixed... as part of the next major update of the product. To get the fix, I was told to buy the update.![]()
Any mentions about HomePods?
I finally see even iOS/IPadOS 14.2 beta 2 now working with the 4K Youtube 15.39.4 this afternoon. Its been awhile since that was working, no doubt google doing its server admin. Yeah got it working with everything now.Google told me on Twitter that the feature will work on all tvOS 14 versions, not limited to 14.2 and beyond.
Looks like they got forgotten.Any mentions about HomePods?
