Apple today released tvOS 16.3.3, a bug fix update for the tvOS 16 operating system that originally came out in September. Available for the Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD, tvOS 16.3.3 comes almost a month after tvOS 16.3.2.

The tvOS 16.3.3 update can be downloaded over the air through the Settings app on the ‌‌‌‌Apple TV‌‌‌‌ by going to System > Software Update. ‌‌‌‌Apple TV‌‌‌‌ owners who have automatic software updates turned on will be upgraded to ‌tvOS 16.3.3 automatically. Note that this update is only for the third-generation Apple TV 4K.

tvOS updates are usually minor in scale, focusing on internal bug fixes and improvements rather than notable outward-facing changes. According to Apple's release notes, this update fixes an issue that could cause the Siri Remote to not work with the third-generation Apple TV 4K.

**Finally**. I have repair replaced two units so far with no luck. Each time they say, “just bring it back if it doesn’t work”. So frustrating. Happy to (hopefully) have a fix!

was experiencing this often, unresponsive remote plus long black screen on boot

is anyone also experiencing signal issues?

i had no problems with previous generation but with the latest the tv does not recognize the signal sometimes when waking up from sleep and it’s necessary to sleep/wake again. also before the tv has automatically recognized it’s an apple tv connected and overall it was playing together much better

(same tv and same high-quaity cable)

Has anyone also experienced this version of the atv not connecting to AirPods? Mine hasn’t connected to my remote in weeks, and about a month ago lost connection to all AirPods in my house. They work with our other TVs, but this latest isn’t even showing them as an option anymore.

I've been experiencing an issue where the Siri Remote stops controlling the TV (volume and on/off functions) for some random interval. Power cycling the devices doesn't seem to do anything at all. And then... after a few days or even a couple of weeks, it just starts working again.

It's so weird and intermittent.

Hope this fix takes care of that too.

Finally! This was driving me nuts. I had AppleCare replace one remote already thinking it was the hardware and the replacement also started to do the same thing.

Oh, I had this happenings during the weekend. Not even resetting the remote worked, I had to remove the connection and pair it with my Apple TV again.

Something quite scary happened with the remote last week, though. I was wearing my PSVR2 and was looking through the pass through mode, and could then see the infrared led on the remote flashing like crazy and it wouldn’t stop until I did a remote reset. At that point I also realized that the remote had set the volume on my surround receiver to full volume! It was just pure luck there was no sound at the moment and that the headset shows IR in pass through.

No, but I’ve had to reboot my ATV2022 where using 4K causes the entire TV to zoom way in.
When I first got the Apple TV, it was running 16.1, and there was no way to stop the zooming in.
Updated to 16.3.1, which was the latest update out at the time, and everything reverted back to normal, but still every once in a while, it’ll randomly zoom way in and the only thing that fixes it is a reboot.
Edit: should note the that our new 4K TV itself has actually been extremely buggy since we’ve gotten it, so it’s very possible that it might be an issue with the TV itself and nothing to do with the Apple TV.

Still not seeing it on my ATV 5th gen (original 4K model).

Hopefully this also fixes HDMI-CEC power on/off. Every since 16.3, my TV makes a weird crackling noise through its speakers whenever the Apple TV turns the TV off, and I have to manually turn it back on using the TV remote.

I have 2 Apple TV 4K devices, and still no update on either here as well.

I started running into that issue maybe... 6 months ago (guessing but a reasonable estimate).

After much trial and tribulations, I found that the Siri Remote (the sliver one with black buttons) itself can be reset, and that has fixed the issue each time.
