Which model of Apple TV do you have? I'm starting to suspect this was only released for the newer 4K models (5th gen and/or 6th gen only).
Article says "Note that this update is only for the third-generation Apple TV 4K."

I wouldn't bother trying to update older ATVs. The update is only to fix Siri remote connectivity issues on the latest model. Older ATVs don't have this issue and so don't need the update.

My remote has randomly disconnected a few times, but after the first time I discovered by pushing the back and volume + button at the same time (this is what you typically do to pair a siri remote) connectivity would be restored. Hopefully this update take cares of the issue completely though.

Aha… yeah I went back to using the original Siri remote - the one people apparently hate - but it Just Works™ I had also tried the new Siri Remote when it came out on the 2nd Gen. 4K Apple TV - it too would disconnect often and stop working. The new Siri remote looks like it's built like a tank but it's been so dang flakey! I still like the old flat black Siri remotes. 🤷‍♂️

I started running into that issue maybe... 6 months ago (guessing but a reasonable estimate).

After much trial and tribulations, I found that the Siri Remote (the sliver one with black buttons) itself can be reset, and that has fixed the issue each time.

Thanks! Didn't know that. Appreciate the tip.

Have they fixed the ‘there is a problem with Apple Music’ bug that occurs when making Siri requests to a stereo pair of HomePods set as default speakers for an Apple TV?

I accept that it is confusing. It is contradictory and if Macrumors did less copy and paste from old articles, there might be fewer contradictions.

I have both 3rd gen ATV 4K and ATV HD. I got the update for 3rd gen ATV 4K but not ATV HD. When checking the ATV HD for updates it will just say "Your Apple TV is up to date" and that is with tvOS 16.3.2 installed.

Now go to the source of the information directly at apple: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207936

This may also add to the confusion because near the top it says: "Discover the latest features of tvOS available on Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD."

Then it says

"What's new in tvOS 16.3.3

This update fixes an issue where the Siri Remote can become unresponsive on Apple TV 4K (3rd generation)."

This means tvOS 16.3.3 is only available for the 3rd gen ATV 4K, not ATV HD.

I got the new one for Christmas, and haven’t had a single problem with it since. 🤷‍♂️

Great little box!

**Finally**. I have repair replaced two units so far with no luck. Each time they say, “just bring it back if it doesn’t work”. So frustrating. Happy to (hopefully) have a fix!
Not saying it excusable that there has been an issue, but seriously. After you’ve clearly seen all these other people report the same, clearly a software issue, you feel the need to go to Apple and get a replacement? Really? If you’re that unhappy get a refund or wait till they fix the issue. And look, they have sorted it and you’d have had the solution with the original unit you had. Some people are just so impatient and frankly ridiculous!

I have 2 Apple TV 4K devices, and still no update on either here as well.
The tvOS 16.3.3 only showed up on my 2022 128GB Apple TV 4K with Ethernet... not on either of my previous 2 generation Apple TV 4K devices.

The controller became unresponsive for me after waking the Apple TV up, and the YouTube app tried to resume playing a video that was not stopped before putting the unit in stand-by mode. I'll try this update tonight.

I had put in a warranty request last week as the last update didn’t help at all. Hopefully this fixes it. This remote has the worst connectivity of any Apple TV remote I’ve ever had going back to the 2nd gen 720p.

I applied the update but I am still getting the remote disconnected/connected notifications. So for me, this update doesn’t seem to have fixed anything.

after the update i have a /developer/ option on the main settings menu. it seems to have options for networking parameters although i tried creating a profile which didn't work at all but it wasn't obvious how to enter your bandwidth.

anyone know if this is just an oversight on apple's part? surely they didn't mean for the great unwashed to have this capability. /guy
