Apple today released tvOS 16.3, the third major point update to the tvOS 16 operating system that originally came out in September. Available for the Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD, tvOS 16.3 comes six weeks after tvOS 16.2, an update that added Apple Music Sing.

The tvOS 16.3 update can be downloaded over the air through the Settings app on the ‌‌‌‌Apple TV‌‌‌‌ by going to System > Software Update. ‌‌‌‌Apple TV‌‌‌‌ owners who have automatic software updates turned on will be upgraded to ‌tvOS 16.3 automatically.

tvOS updates are usually minor in scale, focusing on internal bug fixes and improvements rather than notable outward-facing changes. There is no word as of yet what's included in the tvOS 16.3 update, and no features were found during the beta testing process.

Apple shares information on tvOS releases in its tvOS support document, which is updated after each tvOS launch.

tvOS 16.3 (20K650) - scheduled January 25, 2023

Some of the things I saw during this tvOS 16.3 beta cycle was occasionally un-pairing of the newest third gen ATV4k remote. Still see the time point indicator seem to have some ringing when first start a stream, something to work on in some streaming apps. This was a pretty short beta cycle Dec 14th to Jan 23rd.

The next tvOS 16.4 beta cycle should start in a few days, hopefully it more of a substantial update than 16.3 for tvOS.

I'm not getting it on my end. There is maybe 5 things Apple can do to improve TVos but I have a feeling this is just another minor update. They've been minor updates since launch it feels like, other than the TV interface.

i think this was prematurely posted. I‘m not seeing updates for either my Apple TV or HomePods yet.

For those not seeing the tvOS update right now:
Enable the option to receive beta updates.
Then check again for updates, it should show up as 16.3 (20K650). Install the update.
After that, you can disable the option to receive beta updates.
I just updated my AppleTV 4K (2017)

Recently some users report remote controls that stop functioning. Apple has an article to reboot the controller, or some have just unplugged their AppleTV and then plugged it back in.

Both are kind of ridiculous solutions to a problem that just shouldn't be in 2023.

I had that issue with my ATV4K 1st gen, turned out it was Bluetooth interference while under high bandwidth video settings, setting to 4KSDR with Chroma to 4:2:0 and the issue went away.
Perhaps it’s the same issue here?

Could be, but I want that new AppleTV to drive that new Sony OLED as hard as it can !!!!

Maybe them delaying it they have a surprise in store for the TV update. Personally, I would love an option on each individual app to update said app (If you don't have updates turned on). It should be there. Basically what I'm thinking is you hold on to the app so it shakes, press the Pause/Play button to bring up the two options (delete or put in folder) and then a third option would be there to "check for updates" and send you directly to the app in the app store. Roku has something like this and it's great.

I'm surprised MacRumors didn't update this article (or write a new one) considering the number of news articles they write per day. One would think it's important to know that the other releases slated for today have been pushed back to Wednesday.

I couldn’t get my AppleTV to respond when I tried to turn on everything tonight. I tried unplugging it twice. Remote is plugged in to charge, but it wasn’t responding to that. I used the remote app on my phone and see the status light blinking, but no video. It may be bricked.
