Not so odd... after all... they both sell MACS.

Funny. Easily the best comment in a long time any where. :)

Q. In which way are apple and McDonald similar?

A. In that the both sell big-macs!

stores

Probably some issue with graphics performance, need to get the fix out before they display them all in stores today

Right, and we are supposed to take an 'artist' with a song called radadadaist seriously? Seriously, if 2" less screen means you can't create music, you have bigger problems than what Apple does. Buy an iMac/mac pro/bigger external monitor.

And it is not absurd to discontinue a model with low sale figures. Apple are a business who are out to make money. You are but one customer, among millions who have spoken with their money and purchased devices with 15" or smaller screens. Move on to a competitor if you really feel that shafted.

Yeah, this reeks of an early 20-something making "music" with Fruity Loops and some whomps. Seriously, you shouldn't need 2" more of a screen to "make music," you should need instrumental or vocal ability to make music. If you're really relying on your computer that much to make music; you're not really doing much at all.

someone please correct me if i am wrong, but this site is just for entertainment value right? seriously do any posts here really affect market polls for apple to consider for a second what they improve or discontinue - really?!

right now i feel that APPLE has absolutely NO business / market / client transparency -- WHAT'S Up APPLE?!

i feel the events yesterday and every day leading up to yesterday was simply apple just resorting to rumors as a vague source in which to dispel certain 'information' or 'new' development, or extermination of certain services or products, but in an extremely vague way -- giving too much room for interpretation by the general public.

when in turn, really are consumer consensus simply just a tool of marketing at the end of the day to, what, get a poll of what consumers might actually buy or what they 'wish' for, so that apple might consider in their next keynote to present as a foreseeable or possible development?

the blatant 'no mention' at all about the mbp 17" discontinuing, or being taken off the store sight -- no mention at all anywhere on the store sight, just not listing it all of a sudden, making true to the 'rumors'

but the 'rumors' were just taken by the public in the first place as 'predictions' by wobbly sources(?) which no real serious consumer would really take with any grain of salt. but then we get slapped in the face with no mention and no explanation nor details on the store website, is absolutely abysmal business practice period!

take this following example into consideration:

even an innocent scenario at a local mcdonalds here which i used to frequent a bunch through my secondary school years to order my favorite meal no.3 - a two cheeseburger meal for 3.99, which officially discontinued or taken off their meal deals 12 years ago(?)

so..........

i found myself in a mcdonalds a couple of months ago and not seeing the meal deal on the board and making an intelligent guess that oh they don't have that meal option anymore don't even bother. what did i do?

i asked politely anyways, what the heck right? i asked politely if i could still order a two cheeseburger meal for 3.99 and they replied with no hesitation or question, and with a smile -- "of course you can miss, what drink would you like with that?" i always say sprite and oh please no salt on my fries THANKS! the order went through their intercom into the back, no two breaths after she confirmed "will that be all?". this is mcdonalds common now !

yes i read all the 'rumors' and 'predictions' about the 17" mbp while i was still saving up to get the base line latest gen of 2011 model to replace my now sluggish 2007/2008 model for my home recording studio, and POOF and SLAP on the face. no explanation, no accountability just off of the store site. feels very disrespectful somehow, i'm a loyal mbp 17" user, i'm a musician and i chose this line of pro to be my work horse. it has been an incredible machine for me, i put a lot of money into my music career and this to me is a huge investment which has paid off year after year.

NOW -- now i feel i am, in a way, FORCED to consider the new retina 15" mbp that might not be upgradable in the future?!?!?!?!!

what kind of business are you trying to pull off here exactly apple?!?!

Good for you for voicing your opinion.

Just need a dock...

Now if only they'd make a thunderbolt FW 800, Ethernet, USB 3.0, Audio In/Out, with thunderbolt pass-through (or at least video out) that didn't cost $400 I'd jump on this.

Hey guys, Mountain Lion will have Retina support in the standard build right? can we remove non Retina graphics btw? when ML ships ofc.

If you want a 17" MBP, go buy one. If you want the product to stay on the market, get your friends to go buy one too.

Yum, McDonalds…, but yeah, I kind of agree.

You should then consider making your music on a cheeseburger in future.

That just cracked me up! :D:D:D

Music making..

Yeah, this reeks of an early 20-something making "music" with Fruity Loops and some whomps. Thanks for the fruity responses. I have Logic on my current 07/08 17inch MBP, reason and an array of other tools. I have a profile on here as well for those who actually care to learn about the participants in this entertaining rumors forum. But if I must do away with shameless self promotion (which I dread because it is all about the music not about me). Here is an idea of my creative process..

I love humor it rhymes with rumor so I am here to post my thoughts and feelings about these things on here. I enjoy reading everyone's post it is a fun thing to do on line while my tracks are being mastered and my videos being rendered.

I love size and I love variety, options and choices.

FWI: I have already ordered the highest end new retina 15" mbp I'm going to play with it and record a couple of new albums with it in my home studio and then when the new gen of 17" mbps make their re-entrance into the lime light, I will cheerfully return the 15" for a store credit or give it to my nephew going into medicine next year. I have given myself these options where sometimes I feel I have been ripped off of mine. Well, no one ripped me off, but sometimes I feel this happening on a larger scale that's all.

I like to learn more about the participants on these sorts of 'forums' because I am interested in all the creative ways people utilize these incredible machines, not just who has the money for the fashionable sense.

Thanks.

Hey, chill on the personal attack. There's no need for that.

But I agree with you on the monitor suggestion -- buy a 2nd/3rd monitor; Logic needs two anyway. She'll be more productive with two monitors than she will with one 17".

Really nice playing on the Koto. I was mesmerized by the rhythms in the video. Seeing the physical movements of a Koto player definitely adds something to the experience.

If you really want a 17", my guess is they will reintroduce it next year; they probably don't have 17" retina screens available yet. But I still think you'd be more productive using an external 2nd monitor.

Thank you! That has been one of the nicest and most constructive suggestions / comments I got on here since I registered. I appreciate that about my playing and I agree - watching the instrument being played, the movements really - really adds something to the experience. Live is the best setting of course to experience the instruments life force!

As for the 17" MBP I guess I generally didn't expect it to just go away, I expect this isn't the case for long, I don't really have a preference for the retina because working with music programs mainly it doesn't matter to me much? Just that I need a lot of power, portability and 17 inch I found to be just the right - sweet enough - amount of viewing for monitoring my projects etc.

I can not afford two monitors, also, as a self-employed artist in an expensive city for renting tiny apartments, I am always having to pick up and move, start all over somewhere else in the city where rent is decent, once the old place starts to hike up the rent or convert into a condo and forcing us out. So the 17" machine is just right for me and my situation. I'm passionate about it as much as I am with sharing music! As you picked up a bit of here. I guess I should take these posts to the forum section and not cause anyone to be upset at my posts.

Thanks.

no clue what your point is, but fairly certain it has NOTHING to do with this post which is a software patch to a new machine. however, I will remember the next time I go to McD's to ask about the two cheeseburger meal, sounds great.

except I think its a 'sis'. the 'miss' in the story clued me in.

Just a rant or random proportions *bad night*. I Apologize !

It is too easy to rant online when non of my gal'pals care about technology other than things that vibrate really hard.. Ahem! I didn't want to mean any disrespect. Sometimes I can be very random and awkward when trying to be funny?

I wont do that anymore.

Thanks to those who have been messaging me about how much you enjoy my music and artistic expression though and encouraging me to produce more works, how to clean the fan out of my 2007 mbp 17" machine and even making offers to buy me a (refurb Oct.2011 2.5GHz 17" mbp) awwwwwwwwwwwe.. I will have to work hard to earn it!

Thanks.
